    Clinton Portis - RB, Washington Redskins 12/6/2006

    Washington RB Clinton Portis had shoulder surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn labrum, and he is expected to need more than six months of rehabilitation. If all goes well, he should be ready to go when the Redskins open training camp next fall. Portis has been on injured reserve since Nov. 15, soon after he broke a bone in his hand on Nov. 12 against Philadelphia, but his shoulder has bothered him throughout the season.

    Steven Jackson - RB, St. Louis Rams 12/6/2006

    St. Louis RB Steven Jackson has caught 44 passes in the Rams' past five games (8.8 per game) and is now tied with Bengals WR Chad Johnson for third in the NFL with 72 receptions.

    Brian Westbrook - RB, Philadelphia Eagles 12/6/2006

    The toe injury suffered by Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (knee) against Carolina on Sunday appears to be little reason for concern after X-rays showed no significant damage. Westbrook will probably be listed on the team's injury report, but that will be due to the swelling in his knee.

    Jon Kitna - QB, Detroit Lions 12/6/2006

    Lions head coach Rod Marinelli gave struggling QB Jon Kitna his weekly vote of confidence on Tuesday, adding that he views Kitna as the team's starting QB next year, as well. Over the past three games, Kitna has thrown for two touchdowns and five interceptions, and he's lost two fumbled and been sacked 17 times
