It feels like a huge mistake! To be honest we were expecting the over/under line to be close to 215 points so after seeing the line offered @202 it is a must bet.
Difference between this years Golden State Warriors and last years Warriors team is one person. His name is Don Nelson. The biggest difference Don Nelson will make is Golden State Warriors offence. Known with his up tempo and very open style of game Golden State will be a very high scoring (and also allowing many points) team in this season. We all remember Nelson from his Dallas days when the Mavs rarely scored below 100 points.
It is enough if we take a look at the Warriors preseason games … 121-115 (DEN), 124-120 (POR), 103-112 (NOK), 116-106 (LAC), 96-108 (POR), 107-111 (SEA). Average preseason game for GSW had 223,2 points. The thing is that Nelson wants his team to push the ball in every single time they have a possession, he does not mind very quick shots and Warriors are playing adventurous defence to get steals and convert them with fast breaks. They get their steals but also pay for that with easy baskets to opponents. That all of course means game totals going skyhigh.
Also Lakers have kept their games relatively high scoring (even though they still play without Kobe Bryant). In last 4 games scores have been 106-113 (NOK), 91-94 (PHX), 126-108 (DEN) and first regular season game yesterday 114-106 vs (PHX). Even if Phil Jackson would consider slowing down the tempo he would hardly succeed as Lakers will play second night in a row and are not fit enough to dictate the tempo in away game. Also because of injuries they have younsters Bynum and Vujacic as new faces in their lineup which makes inserting solid defence doubtful.
This line looks like a 20 points early season mistake from the bookies. All signs are showing to very high scoring game direction. Not even a single preseason game GSW played was close of being under toinghts line so our confidence is high enough to take this bet with 8/10 stakes.
