  • Tuesday’s last minute NHL picks + analysis – Ana @ Col

-- Here are today’s picks with analysis --

    Anaheim @ Colorado
The Mighty Ducks travel to Denver on Tuesday to take on the red hot Colorado Avalanche at home. The Avs have only lost one game in the last seven games played. They are second in the league for power play conversion. The Aves also dominate the league in scoring percentage. All of this despite overcoming injuries to several key players. The Avs will be playing with Adam Foote tonight as he has returned from the injured list and should be up to 100% for tonight’s game. Colorado will still be playing without Peter Forsberg and Paul Kariya.

The Mighty Ducks are also riding a hot streak right now. They enter tonight’s game unbeaten in the last four contests. Martin Gerber takes the goal for the Ducks tonight. In his last 5 starts he has averaged a1.56 goals against average and only one loss. Martin Gerber currently ranks 5th in the NHL for both GAA and save percentage.

Our power ratings predict a 3-2 Colorado win over Anaheim. Colorado has a GFA of 3.3 and GAA of only 2.6. The Ducks have a 1.8 GFA and that is made even worse by a 2.6 GAA. This should be a good scoring game so long as there is a first period goal. And we feel the team to score first tonight has the better chance. In this contest we expect the Avs to hit hard and try to get the first tally on the board. So…

We take Colorado -0.5 for -130 and Over +5.0 for +100.
We are playing both picks at one unit.

As always, please post any thoughts and information that you might have.
    And of course, GOOD LUCK!
