    Goings and Comings.

Wasn’t it Great for College Football to start this past week? This will be weekly column of thoughts and opinions from the previous week, along with what it ahead. Let’s roll…...

Maryland’s Ralph Freidgen is known as an offensive guru, which he has justifiably earned as the Terrapins coach as well as other stops in his coaching career. Last Thursday at NIU he did not continue to build resume. Unimaginative is one of several adjectives I could come up with to describe the play calling. His team his was out-hit, out-played and out-gained by over 100 yards. We expected a relatively close game for 3 quarters, but this outcome! Hopefully, for their sake they were looking ahead to a trip to Tallahassee. Based on how the Seminoles played this past week the phrase “Be careful for what you wish” comes to mind.

Speaking of the Seminoles, Wow did they look impressive! Not only fast but very, very physical. The off-season talk was all about the re-focus of C. Bowden and Seminoles football, well dadgumit, it sure looked like that against the talent starving Tar Heels.
    C. Bowden may have to make room for another assistant next year because son Tommy’s days appear to be numbered at Clemson unless he has a miraculous turnaround this season. In his last two coaching attempts, his teams have been outscored 85-15.
Unfortunately, Tommy may find out the other meaning of “Death Valley” in Clemson.

Penn State looked incredibly ordinary against Temple. The Owls actually out-gained the Nittany Lions by over 40+ yards and out first downed Penn State 21-15.

Both Colorado and Louisville preformed better then expected in their openers. The Buffs’ used a number a BIG Plays to run over the Rams, and the Cardinals played more like the team everyone expected last year.

Upset of the Weak………………Florida Atlantic 20 Middle Tenn. State 19
This game has nothing to do with wagering, but made me sit up in my chair when I saw the final score. Legendary Coach Howard Schellenberger is transitioning into retirement down in Coral Cables, FL by coaching the Mighty Owls. (Owls in Florida? Who knew?) The Owls went 98 yards, including a 62- yard Hail Mary pass on the last play of the game to beat one of the favorites for the Sun Belt Conference. With a trio of road contests coming @Georgia, @Clemson and @Missouri the Blue Raiders of M.T.S. seem to have the appropriate nickname.

Whatever this means……………….. All 8 Mountain West teams play on the road this week. I presume that is unusual and wonder when and if that has ever happened before. UNLV and the Air Force are the only favorites of the bunch.

    LINE MOVEMENT
One feature that Impact Sports likes to follow is line movement early in the week. This is considered when the “sharps” look to take advantage of weak lines and help move them accordingly. Once posted, we review them later in the day on Tuesday and see what direction these guys are thinking. Last year, CFB was only 129-130 in early line movement, but the NFL was a profitable 36-25 ATS.

    Surprising Spreads
    N. Texas -17 over Baylor Are the Bears really that bad?

Miami, FL. -14 over Florida How long has ball Coach Steve been gone?

Fish -14 over Texans In spite of Miami's great September record, aren’t the Texans worth a look at this price?

Cowboys -2 over Falcons What would line be if M. Vick was playing? This line appears to be like C. Parcells stomach, inflated.
