First, let me preface this post by saying that from now on I will submit my long posts a few paragraphs at a time. I just finished writing a long, eloquent post on bookmakers, and when I submitted it, the whole thing got deleted because I may have had the wrong password typed in. This is the second time that I've written a long post, only to have it lost. It's too draining and time-consuming for me to suffer this fate again.
In this post, I will critique bookmakers. And, hopefully. this post will make Grubbie happy. Also, I'm glad that Robbie (Polar) posted his "Comedians (Bookmakers) Scared Strait" post prior to this one. I share his sentiments.
Offshore bookmakers are, for the most part, a joke. Proof of this is their opening lines. First, consider the Don Best books, supposedly the biggest and the brightest in the field. If these BMs, with the exception of CRIS, who makes the opening offshore line-- ever had an opinion, I've yet to see it. For example, a couple of days ago, Olympic's opening line on every baseball game--with the exception of a -275 favorite on which they differed by a nickel--was within 1 cent of CRIS. And the other Don Best book aren't much better. These guys are so conservative they make Patrick Buchannon look like a flaming liberal. If Senator Kyl knew how conservative these guys were, he would legalize offshore betting in a heartbeat.
