This is a letter to all sports books out there that take action on soccer.
For some time now many of us here at Bettorsworld have been looking for sportsbooks that take Asian (handicap) lines on soccer.
To our dismay, we have only found one thus far - Victor Chandler.
Althought Asian lines, as the name suggests, are mainly practiced in the region after which they are named, they are increasingly finding their way into books that take action mainly from other parts of the world. Interwetten and William Hill both offer something similar to handicap lines, though they aren't exactly true Asian lines in that they still offer three choices instead of two.
It seems that a lot of sportsbooks are underestimating the significance of offering Asian lines. Quite a few of us here are willing to open up accounts simply because a book will offer these lines to us. Speaking in terms of economics, the demand is clearly there. But where is the supply? Is Victor Chandler the only book willing to capitalize on the potential out there?
There is also another aspect. Just like a store that entices customers with "buy one get one free" offers plans on those customers also purchasing other products while there, the same applies to these lines. By offering these lines, books will also gain other action from the people who came simply because they were offered Asian lines. In other words, people will come into your "store" simply because you offer Asian lines, but they will end up "buying" much more than that.
My aim, and the aim of those who will contibute their thoughts to this thread, is to convince you, the bookmakers, to offer us the opportunity to bet Asian lines. I'm hoping you will listen and respond to your customers' or prospective customers' suggestions, just as Victor Chandler has done.
What we are looking for are decent 20-cent Asian lines, posted at least a day before the games take place (most soccer lines are available up to a week ahead, sometimes earlier).
Are any books interested in listening to our needs and putting up Asian lines? So far DAS has mentioned that they would offer the lines. Is anyone else planning on entering the market? Please let us know here in this thread.
