  • Carib Makes Announcement Regarding BetCarib.com

Carib has asked us to post the following on their behalf:

Although the URL "BetCarib.com" is being directed to WWTS, we would like to inform the general public that Carib has neither purchased nor are we responsible for the debts of that company.

    Sincerely,

    Carib Management

I'm very shocked that WWTS would do this. Did that sale go through? Does anyone know? Bill Scott probably wouldn't allow this sort of thing to have happened.

As I recall, SBG was basically blackballed by this site and its readers for engaging in this kind of deceptive internet marketing.

SBG was only blackballed by this site because they had a domain name similar to Bettorsworld, not because they had a domain name of another sportsbook.

I own the domain name caribet.com (among others), and I've never considered putting it to "bad" use. Maybe Carib is interested in securing the domain?

What about Intertops - man I musta ran into 10 domain names that redirected to them. None belong to other books or are similar, but looking for old Super Bowl stats, you'll find Intertops.

              What happened to this controversy?

I don't see anything wrong with having domain names that aren't just yours pointing to your site; however, when they are directly related to the competition, that is completely unethical.

I think Coca-Cola would have a problem if www.drinkcoke.com pointed at Pepsi. There would probably be a lawsuit involved.

Fish - if it happened in the USA, the site wouldn't be up for long. As for other countries, I have no idea. Pretty underhanded if you ask me.

Did you call WWTS and ask what's up with that domain name?

No, I haven't called them to see what is up with the domain name, because I figure I'll get some customer service rep that doesn't have a clue what a domain name is, or some canned speech about the whole issue. I don't think we'd get any straight answers.

I don't think "betcarib" would fall into the same category as the coke and pepsi example. Betcarib could signify the carribean in general.

Although it is common knowledge that Jolly Rogers or little caeser or whatever name he's using now has had a long standing feud with Bill Scott.

Remember when carib put up a line on the wwts sale??

                    Maybe this is payback.

Im very happy to see this thread keep popping up, because it is giving good publicity for two excellent shops.

Both CaribSports.com and BetWWTS.com have been leaders in the industry for the past 10 years.

Healthy and sometimes below-the-belt competition between these two operations makes for some fun that many readers may be taking a bit too seriously.

BetCarib certainly sounds like it is a representation of CaribSports.

Those of you who were around in 2000 also would have associated the heavily advertised slogan of 'Bottom Line We Pay' to belong to BetWWTS.

Now if you take a look at BetCarib.com you will see the WWTS page.
...And if you take a look at BottomeLineWePay.com, you will see the Carib page.

Both were registered in August of 2000. Both seem to me to be proof of 2 big companies with a very dynamic competitive attitude towards each other.

This is healthy for both companies, and though it may seem like low blows, it is just good fun to these monsters of online gaming.
Dont take it too seriously, just know that if you are dealing with either or both, you are in good hands.

noone should take that sort of thing too seriously. if carib has a big enough problem with it they can take wwts to court over the name. it doesnt affect the level of service provided by those guys. and most importantly they are still paying.
