  • added games

does any one know the reason why so many games are now on the added games list and are these games limited to certain types of wagers. so many of these teams were on the regular lines last year.

someone tell me if i'm wrong but i think a lot of games are added this year because of the skill difference between the teams. there are a lot of notoriously good teams playing some little schools.

added games are limited because the spreads are usually unpredictable and can swing wildly. i think.

About 5 or 6 years ago the linemakers starting lining games they called ADDED GAMES. Most books treat added games like games in a circle, limited action and no parleys. Last season they junked having a list of games called added and put them all on the regular line.

The linemaker has not been very sharp on these added games and has been getting his ass handed to him, especially in the mid-america conference.

These added games are usually not in major media areas and therefore there isn't as much info available to the linemaker.

5 Dimes is booking Ivy League games, along with a full slate of Division I-AA action. I've started working on handicapping Div. I-AA, and based on what I've seen so far the lines aren't particularly strong. Of course they've got a $250 limit on 'em, so its not like they're going to get killed on them. Last week was the first week that I supplied my clients with I-AA plays and we used:

SC STATE -19 over Savannah State (W)
          RICHMOND +3' over Furman (L)
UMASS +26 over Northeastern (W--backdoor cover)
WOFFORD +18 over Georgia Southern (W-Wofford won outright 14-7)

I've been concentrating on southern teams, particularly those in-state (last week I was on or against 3 South Carolina based teams) since I get better info on the games.

I'd love to see some more books add the I-AA action....
