Don Best Customers: The following is an announcement from CRIS Sportsbook.
"Many questions have been raised as to our closure yesterday at 11am EST. Here are the facts concerning the closure and our current status:
1. CRIS business operations were temporarily interrupted yesterday by Costa Rican investigators in cooperation with Canadian investigators, regarding the $40,000,000 alleged embezzlement in Toronto Canada by an individual named Salim Djami. He was a customer of BC Sports, a former affiliate of CRIS.
2. The authorities were not investigating CRIS's activities in the sports gaming industry.
3. There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that $900,000 cash was found and confiscated on our premises. CRIS, one of the world's largest offshore sports businesses, does business like any other major company. There is no need for large amounts of currency to be on hand in our office.
4. There is absolutely no truth to the rumors that CRIS bank accounts have been frozen. We have not been accused of any illegal activities; consequently our funds are not frozen.
5. The authorities are almost finished with their investigation and are satisfied that CRIS has complied with all applicable laws and has done nothing improper.
6. We expect to be open for business by Friday evening at 6pm EST. There is a good possibility that we will reopen earlier and will notify you if that is the case. We obviously regret and apologize for any inconvenience our temporary closure may have caused you, but we will make it up to you with our historic excellent service tomorrow night. We are safe and secure and so are all your accounts."
