  • Craps Exoerts Only Please

Uncle Nick of bworld fame claims the following is a good % play on the table.

Lay 100 on the DON'T PASS.

now, let us say the point rolled is 10.

BUY the 10 for let us say 80. (+5%) =84.00

now if the 7 is rolled we loses the buy bet (-84) but win the
    don't bet 100.00. a profit of $16.00.

if the ten is rolled before a 7 we win the point bet +168 but lose the don't bet -100. aprofit of 76.00.

i realize i have not spoken about a come out roll but can anyone verify this is less lucrative than betting the don't and laying odds?

    thanks

Uncle Nick has been misinformed. The only good bets on craps are pass and don't pass with double odds which gives the house only a .60% edge. The more the odds the less the edge because odds are paid at true odds - so with 10 times odds the house edge is .20% - a very good bet. Gimmicks can be figured out by what they cost. It costs 6.7% vig to place a 10 or 4.8 % to buy a 10 - both bets are bad bets because of the high vig. That the mathmatics of it, but think about it this way. If the point is a 10, since there is only 3 ways for the dice to make a 10 versus 6 ways for a 7, your going to be giving away $84 profit the majority of the time. It would be like selling a share on your future market for say 66 dollars when if you waited you would probably have received 100 dollars. The risk in don't pass is on the initial roll, once you got a point, the odds are in your favor. Enjoy craps but remember - there is no such thing as a professional crap player. While its possible to make a living in sports, its impossible to make a living playing craps - no matter how low the % the house always has an edge and in the long run the house will will prevail.

What if the come out roll is a 7 or 11. You lose the $100. What if he rolls a 6 or 8? This theory dosen't hold water.

I have been sucessful at times with this method and its a grind: We all know to pay on the pass line or the don't pass and take odds. The only even bet in the Casino is paid on the back line odds.

You can use this method by betting pass or don't. I prefer to pay the pass line. We all know when we get a hot shooter we win on the pass line. When a new shooter gets the dice, I make no bet till he makes a pass and then I bet the pass line and take full odds. If you use this method you will miss all those two or three rolls and out.

If you want to play the don't, you get on the don't with a new shooter and take full odds after the come out. If the shooter makes a pass, wait for the next shooter. This way you don't try to fade a hot roller.

No sure thing in dice, but I have had some sucess with these methods. Good Rolling and Good Luck.

The best play is the pass line with full odds, not the dont pass, with the push on 12, you lose about 1.35 % from the house 50.6
that brings you under the pass line 49.4 (more like 49.25)

            tombed2001,

Pass line and don't pass have the exact same house edge which is 1.4%. Double odds reduces the house edge to .60%. There is no advantage in house edge by going pass or don't pass.
