HEISMAN & NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS FROM BETWWTS.COM
QBs Head List Of Heisman Candidates; Miami Slight Favorite To Repeat

ST. JOHN’S, ANTIGUA (August 20, 2002)—With the official kickoff of the 2002 NCAA football season this week, the races to win the Heisman Trophy and National Championship are again wide open. BetWWTS.com, a leading offshore gaming company for over 10 years, has released pre-season odds on who will be crowned the nation’s best collegiate player and which team will win the 2003 Fiesta Bowl and be crowned national champions.

The battle to win this year’s Heisman Trophy will be between an impressive group of signal callers, as BetWWTS.com has made six quarterbacks the favorites to win the award. Rex Grossman, last year’s Heisman runner-up, is the early favorite to be voted college football’s best at 2/1 odds. Grossman is followed by fellow gunslingers Ken Dorsey (15/4), Byron Leftwich (4/1), Chris Simms (13/2), Eli Manning (13/2) and Kliff Kingsbury (9/1). Overall, BetWWTS.com has created individual odds on 25 offensive players winning the Heisman, 15 of which are quarterbacks, as well as listing the chances of any defensive player winning the award at 15/1.

Meanwhile, the chase to win the national championship at the Fiesta Bowl in January also appears to be anyone’s as BetWWTS.com feels that seven perennial powerhouses have an opportunity to win. Miami of Florida is the early favorite to repeat as national champions at 18/5 followed closely by Big 12 rivals Texas (19/4) and Oklahoma (24/5). Other major college programs that figure in the mix for the national title include Florida State (6/1), Tennessee (13/2), Nebraska (9/1) and Florida (11/1). Traditional powerhouse Notre Dame is listed as the long shot at 55/1 odds.
