  • Best Book for UNIQUE Bets

I'd like help compiling a list of online books with UNIQUE bets. Anyone and everyone has the "Giant Boozles -7 Minnie Mights" but I'd like to find the sites that are quickly putting up Week 7 NFL lines, Movie Lines, TV Reality Shows, Lots of Props, Odds of Stanley Cup to be Won in 0X Games, etc.....

Please post the book, what makes them cool, and their general reputation or your personal experience with them.

    For example:

    WSEX
Probably king of the weird stuff! In-game betting, movie lines, financial props, "4-pay" future wagering, NFL player props, and some teasers. Great rep, better than avg interface.

    CARIB
NFL Week XX Lines! Known for paying ties on teasers? Great rep.

If I get a good response, I will compile a list by category of "weird stuff" and post. Thanks!

Intertops has always posted unique odds on reality shows and what not.

Now that Simon from Intertops is working with WWTS, I'd look for WWTS to start posting some more unique wagers.

They already started with the Hot Dog eating contest......

5 Dimes will put up just about anything you like and Millennium also has a lot of props. I think they have a movies or entertainment sections.

Since I've been called the "Billy Walters of non-sports wagering" (by the noted handicapper Kevin O'Neill) I guess I'm well qualified to speak on this topic. The first distinction is between unique bets and unique SPORTS bets.

In the catagory of unique bets, the undisputed champion is NASA International aka BetOnSports.com aka Big NASA. They post lines on things like hurricanes (Which state will a hurricane hit first?), celebrity marriages (will Tom Cruise remarry), trials, politics, etc. Some of these are just silly (I don't think getting +1500 if aliens visit the US as a particually good value) while some are good values. They had one last year on the O/U number of Bush's cabinet members to resign during his first year in office. The O/U was 1' and based on the historical data that was a great value play on the UNDER. Cabinet members simply don't resign during the first term a president is on office......

For unique sports bets, as Blowfish noted, 5 Dimes is probably the best. In the past few months they've booked Ultimate Fighting Championships, pro wrestling, NBDL basketball, just about every major and minor boxing match, and the usual array of sports. I gave my clients a big play on the recent Hulk Hogan/Undertaker wrestling main event based on some inside info, and we cashed an easy winner on the Undertaker. 5 Dimes took bets of up to $1000 for this match.

Sports Interaction has recently been taking bets on Major League Lacrosse.

Intertops offers unique bets from time to time, concentrating on entertainment events ("Survivor") and movie box office matchups. They posted lines on the Miss Universe pagent, the Grammy Awards and currently are taking action on "American Idol".

A number of books are taking action on Ultimate Fighting, PRIDE and other big mixed martial arts promotions. BoDog, The Big Book and Sports Interaction are probably the top books for these events. BoDog/Big Book, along with 5 Dimes, have also taken action on recent pro wrestling PPV events.

Movie box office wagers are becoming fairly common, and particularly for "big" films. WSEX and Intertops are probably the leaders in this, and BoDog, Olympic and a few others offer props on big blockbusters.

Finally, just about every book takes action on the Oscar Awards. It's hard to think of a book that *didn't* take action on the "Big 6" (best picture, best actor/actress, supporting actor/actress, director) and a number took action on ALL of the awards.

The late, not so great sportsbook Camelot had a very unique and slightly morbid prop--they were "Dead Pool Matchups" where you could bet on which of two celebrities would die first. IIRC one was:

        Milton Berle -110
        Bob Hope -110

        and another:

        Jesse Helms +120
        Strom Thurmond -150

I've got some articles in various stages of completion on my laptop now addressing handicapping strategies for non-sport wagers. I'll get 'em finished up and provide a link or send 'em to Jeff to be posted here.

If you have any questions about non-sport wagering feel free to email or post 'em here...

          One more thought...

There's a few guys that post here that are really good at handicapping movie box office O/U's and matchups. Keep an eye open for 'em....

I misplaced the name of a sportsbook besides Carib that offers NFL lines from future weeks. It took me forever to come up with the name the first time but I found some semi-decent feedback on this message board.

Anyone know who the heck I might have been thinking of?

"Give me the rich, the poor, the downtrodden, and the sportsbook with the most NFL lines in June..."
