After reading elsewhere on the net about possible FBI field offices in Costa Rica, and how ridiculous this is, I can set the record straight.
The FBI has no OFFICIAL field offices outside the 50 states and Puerto Rico. However, in most U.S. Embassies, some form of each intelligence agency resides. That means the FBI, CIA, DEA and NSA.
As for the investigations involving offshore gambling....I am sure they are always looking at activity and the fact that they have two open cases (that they have themselves stated) means that Costa Rica is probably being looked at. I wouldn't call this unusual. But to state that it is ridiculous that law enforcement even be looking around here is rather dumb considering they did pull one guy out of Sabana not too long ago.
