  • Once around the horn......

    12/10/01

Just wanted to give an update on some of the Bettorsworld books that we've used lately............Let's start with Pinnacle. This book has turned into one of my favorites. Let's face it, players are always looking for the latest bonuses. Who's giving 15% ? Who's giving 20%? But when you play at Pinnacle, you're getting a bonus EVERY TIME you place a bet. While most of the rest of the offshore world has 20 cent football and hoops lines, Pinnacle deals a 10 cent line on sides and 16 cent line on totals. Over the course of you wagering career, those savings will add up to more then your standard sign up bonuses, easily. It's like the gift that keeps on giving! Payouts have been lightening fast, customer service good, no complaints at all. We aren't currently doing a "book of the month" award, but if we were, I'd nominate Pinnacle. Great job!

Next up, Wagerstreet. Another book I've come to be really impressed with. Their original software is one of the best in the biz. Fast, and very easy to navigate. When the player sees a game and line he likes, the click of a button allows him to "lock" his wager in at the given price. He then has 90 seconds to verify his wager. Unlike many other books, if the line moves in the process, Wagerstreet allows you to make the play at the new number, as opposed to starting all over again and going through the entire process from scratch. That's the way all software should operate. A book is in business to take bets. Why make it hard on the person making the bets??? Best of all, the software doesn't log you out! Customer service has been great. The book, in general, has been a pleasure to deal with and I highly recommend them.

BoDog is up next. I didn't know what to expect going in. I had read a complaint or two in the forums, but my experience thus far with BoDog has been fine. Like Wagerstreet, I found the software easy to use and relatively quick. Bodog is constantly offering new bonuses and incentives, such as recently raising parlay payouts for the holidays. BoDog also offers one night a week of nickel juice, which once again is a huge player benefit, and compliments the already attractive 20% sign up bonus. If I had to gig BoDog on something, it would be that they don't have their games listed in rotation order. This makes it very difficult to find the game you need, at times.

The theme here so far is the benefits to the player........Gibraltar fits nicely into this "theme". Gibraltar deals all hoops at -107. PLUS they offer an attractive sign up bonus. Once again I can't strees enough how BIG reduced juice is. So many players don't realize the savings involved here. It's huge. The customer service has been fine and the software, which is the same as many others, get's the job done. Actually they just made an upgrade to their software. We'll withhold judgment until we use it a little more. All in all, no complaints with Gibraltar.

1st Fidelity is another book with great player benefits........Aside from the sign up bonuses offered, they deal nickel juice on Friday nights for Football, which if used in conjunction with the other great deals out there, is once again a huge player benefit. The software is like that of many other books, used by many in the industry. It's tried and tested, so what can you say. It's not my favorite software, but it gets the job done. Again, benefits to the player.....

Of course there's Aces Gold. You can't write about player benefits without including Aces Gold. Most are aware of all the benefits Aces offers the player, but in case your not, they still offer one of the most attractive bonus deals around, both on initial deposits and reups, not to mention the grand daddy of all player perks, JUICE FREE FRIDAYS. Can't beat that! They just recently made an upgrade to their software. The jury is still out on the change. One thing I don't like, is you really don't get a wager confirmation now. Whereas before, you would get a screen that says wager approved, now it just brings you back to the board. (Unless I missed something) But all in all, one of the bet books in the offshore industry bar none.

Lastly, but not least, Royal Sports. Another shop that has their own unique and original software. Aside from having one of the longest track records in the business, they also have no shortage of great deals for the players. Nickel juice specials, 20 sign up bonuses, money back on your losses, and customer service and respect given to the customer that's really among the best in the business. From what we understand, Royal will be moving to some new digs any day now. Expansion no doubt! Be sure to check out Royals weekly review on breaking news each week. They tell you when they win, and they tell you when they lost, with a little humor thrown in as well. Royal is at the top of our recommended book list!

This is just the first wave of write ups. More to come. If you'd like your book reviewed sooner, drop us a line at Jeff@bettorsworld.com

I've found 1st fidelity to be a useful out because of the nickel juice you mentioned, but unfortunately, their lines are pretty tight.
