  • POST UP OR CREDIT

WHAT PERCENT OF CREDIT VERSUS POST-UP IN OFF-SHORE WAGERING? I WOULD BE CURIOUS TO KNOW IF ANYONE FOR SURE KNOWS THIS ANSWER. I AM SURE IT VARIES FROM BOOK TO BOOK. I WAS WONDERING WHAT THE INDUSTRY AVERAGE IS.

    THANKS FOR COMMENTS. DOUG

It's not the answer you're looking for, exactly, but.....

There's still alot of credit out there. You've got the shops that never dealt credit but then you've got alot more that won't give up the old ways and still deal with alot of credit packages.

I'd be curious th hear an average as well......probably 80/20 or better in favor of post up ?

There are alot of bm's from the states that have put their entire customer base into offshore shops. We're talking big numbers. Huge customer bases. Don't underestimate the amount of credit out there.

        Jeff,
It may be 80/20 in favor of post ups as far as quantity. But I'm sure many of those credit players are scalpers and middlers. Thus creating more $$action$$ from from the 20% than the 80%.

afterall, a guy on credit can be playing 100x's what he can afford to post up, but uses his sheet well enough so he doesn't have to spit out the cash he doesn't have.

These books live their lives on credit and use the postups to pay their operational costs.

to jeff: JEFF, I WAS THINKING MORE LIKE 75% CREDIT AND 25% P0ST-UP AS FAR AS VOLUME IS CONCERENED. THE CREDIT PLAYERS PLAY FOR A LOT BIGGER AMOUNTS, USUALLY. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THERE INPUT.

Yeah.....boots makes a good point.......and my guesstimate could be way off. I just threw that out there......but I know there are quite a few post up players with small fortunes at several books......but if you take into consideration the guys with sheets, etc.etc........lots of credit..

Anybody originally enter a book as postup and later given credit without going through an agent? The player and book have a certain settlement figure where they pay or collect. I had relationship like that for a while but then the book cut me off after I won on some big moneyline favorites.

Shifty, I would think that in the vast majority of cases one could not change from postup to credit. The sportsbook would have to think that they were getting a new customer on credit, in order to take the additional risk of extending credit.

Surely there must be risk in this type of account, just as there always has been with the neighborhood bookie.
