Thanks for your quick response. Of course I would love to lay -105 instead of -110 in football and basketball, and I can at Pinnacle and Top of the World. Many other places have a lower than 20¢ line on those sports as well. Maybe CRIS could try a lower vig special for those sports too. What do you say?
RESPONSE:
I respect and know both stores mentioned above however I do not get involved on how they run their business. BETCRIS does not discount any sport, period. The reason we don't discount is because it is come one come all, whether you are a wiseguy or a square. We work on a hold that is traditionally low compared to the industry because we accept all the sharp shooters and no one has ever been BOOTED (no pun intended) for winning. In other words, here is our numbers, play and get paid. Most people play into our store because our numbers move dramatically, especially at post. Most shoopers play here because they understand the value of a half point and that is the basic reason why you will never see a discount at CRIS.

RESONSE
As I mentioned before, I usually do not get involved in the forums and I don't why I'm continuing. (no offense) I have tried to ansewer all your question to the best of my ability.
I never said it took 5 days for Cris to come up with a response to a simple question. I believe that was Boots. You and I have been discussing why Cris uses a 20¢ line in baseball.
I can understand why Cris would not want to discount any lines (although you were the one who asked the question about laying -105 instead of -110), but I don't think you've truthfully answered why they would choose to inflate their baseball vig, and definitely have not answered why Cris did not first attempt to use a 12¢ or 15¢ line before doubling the juice to 20¢.
It's looking more and more like my hypothesis was correct.
Sorry about that Curious. I meant to put Boots for the last statement.
There is simply not enough there for the bookmaker to turn a true profit. Factor in your phones, bandwith, labor, software, plus agent cuts and your lucky to come up with a peanut even with the long line.
Like I said, your hypothesis might be correct it just doen't work for our business. We take on everyone, big and small, sharpes and the squares, we have never thrown anyone out for winning... other store stop the action or throw the customer out...some people don't even get paid when they are identified as a wiseguy. Some have a wiseguy line and a square line (trying to take advantage of the public. )This doesn't happen at our store.
I made this offer before we went to the long line and it is still on the table for any takers. Anyone who thinks there is such an advantage to the dime line is welcomed, at the start of baseball season, to come in and book every baseball wager from start to finish at a ten cent line. They have to have a sufficient bank roll and pay our $100,000 a week nut. They also have to honor the line on the DBS screen and everyone gets the same line with the same house limits.
Needless to say we never even received a phone call asking about the deal. No takers=No value In other words anyone who wants to put their money where their mouth is welcomed to do so....
I really don't want to continue to harp on this but, you still have not answered why Cris did not first attempt to use a 12¢ or 15¢ line before doubling the juice to 20¢.
I think we all know the answer. You guys are big enough that you can afford to turn away business, discourage certain groups from playing with you, and take advantage of the portion of your client base that really doesn't shop lines. It's OK to admit that Mickey. I just think it costs you money in the long run, but it's probably money that Cris doesn't need anyway.

AV2:
I'm kind of surprised to see such a simplistic and erroneous reply from someone like you. The answer is of course it could have cost them money. If they didn't double the vig on MLB they would have gotten much more action last year...a year in which most everyone agrees was a BIG winner for the books. They also lose a certain amount of customers who remove their funds for MLB, and then never put those funds back. It also damages their reputation to some unknown degree, which will cost them more money long term.
My guess is that you probably posted this as a roundabout defense of Olympic (your new employer), who is also using a 20¢ line.
Reality:
Your bias (which diminishes your credibilty) is showing again.
wasn't it was cris who called the famous meeting in costa rica last year to try to get everyone to switch to the wide line?
i think we should pass around the collection plate before football. we need to help books like aces gold, rio, grande, wsex and jazz. reality, will you be the 1st to make a donation?

CURIOUS,
WHAT COULD YOU POSSIBLY KNOW ABOUT CREDIBILITY?
YOUR PASSING JUDGEMENT ON A BOOK YOU'VE NEVER EVEN PLAYED AT!

OH!
YOU'RE NOT A SERIOUS PLAYER.
NO PROBLEM.
LET'S TRY THIS.
YOU'RE A CREDIT PLAYER WITH 10 BOOKS ALL WITH THE SAME AGENT.
C.R.I.S. AND OLYMPIC ARE AMONG THE 10.
THE SEASON BEFORE THEY WENT TO A 20 CENT BASEBALL LINE YOU PLAYED AT BOTH C.R.I.S. AND OLYMPIC.
YOU LOVED THE EARLY LINE AND THE LIMITS.
THE NEXT SEASON WHEN THEY WENT TO A 20 CENT BASEBALL YOU PASSED PLAYING ON SIDES BUY YOU STILL PLAYED BASEBALL TOTALS THERE.
THE FIRST WEEK IN SEPTEMBER YOU LOVE THE RAMS.
THE DON BEST IS PAINTED RAMS -3.5 EXCEPT C.R.I.S.AND OLYMPIC WHO BOTH HAVE THE RAMS -3.
YOU HAVE ACTIVE ACCOUNTS AT BOTH C.R.I.S.AND OLYMPIC.
MY QUESTION AGAIN IN CASE YOU FORGOT IT.

CURIOUS,
A QUESTION.
YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY ARE AN INDIVIDUAL OF GREAT CONVICTION.
MY QUESTION.
THE RAMS ARE PAINTED -3.5 EVERYWHERE EXCEPT C.R.I.S. AND OLYMPIC.
AT C.R.I.S. AND OLYMPIC THE LINE IS -3.
IF YOU LIKE THE RAMS WILL YOU'RE CONVICTION ALLOW YOU TO LAY - 3.5 ON THE RAMS BECAUSE YOU REFUSE TO GIVE YOUR FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL ACTION TO A BOOK THAT DEALT 20 CENT SIDES ON BASEBALL?
OR WILL SANITY PREVAIL AND YOU WILL RUSH TO C.R.I.S. AND OLYMPIC AND TO TRY AND COP THAT 3 BEFORE A SHARP BEATS YOU TO IT?
Speaking of credibility, is this one of those threads you were talking about when you posted this on 7/9:
"EVERYTIME I TRY TO GET OUT,THEY PULL ME BACK IN!"
IT IS.
Nobody pulled you into this thread, did they?
CURIOUS AND THE THRILL OF THE POST...
Your credibility quotient is dropping rapidly.
I GUESS YOU MISSED IT.
A FEW POSTERS GAVE ME MY CREDIBILITY BACK.
YOU CAN CHECK IT OUT AFTER YOUR RESPONSE HERE.
I'M NOT TRYING TO PICK ON YOU, MY COMMENT APPLYS TO ANYONE WHO CANT SEE THIS MERELY AS A BUSINESS DECISION BY C.R.I.S. AND OLYMPIC,I GUESS I'M JUST REALITY.

LAST YEAR WAS THE BEST YEAR FOR THE HOUSE IN BASEBALL IN 20 YEARS.
C.R.I.S.HAD THE BEST BASEBALL SEASON IN THEIR HISTORY AS DID OLYMPIC...
They also lose a certain amount of customers who remove their funds for MLB, and then never put those funds back.

WRONG.

THE SERIOUS PLAYER WILL ACCEPT C.R.I.S.'S BUSINESS DECISION TO IN ESSENCE "CLOSE" FOR BASEBALL.
HOWEVER WHEN THEY "REOPEN" FOR FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL THE PLAYERS WILL RETURN TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY HAVE COME EVERY AUTUMN SINCE OFF-SHORE WAGERING BEGAN.
C.R.I.S.
WHY?
SIMPLE.
THEY POST THE LINE EARLY AND THEY TAKE A GOOD BET.
THEY ARE "STONE COLD" BOOKMAKERS AND AREN'T ARFRAID TO POST AN OFF THE BOARD NUMBER TO REDUCE A GAME TO A DECISION THEY ARE COMFORTABLE WITH.
