  • Sportsbook.com at it again?

I posted a thread here a little while ago concerning one of the books I deal with, Sportsbook.com
I was trying to process a withdrawl. Due to confusion with an error on my listed address for the account my account was frozen.
Patrick from Sportsbook replied to my post and I provided a new address change to him and all was sorted out.

Fast forward to a few days ago. Things have been great this season. I now have a balance of around 7.5K about 5 of it is the books.
I sent a few e-mails to the cashiers inquiring about withdrawl info and lo and behold.
I received an E-mail telling me my account was now placed on an audit status. I didn't even get a chance to start a withdrawl.

I have been informed that they require me to provide the following:
copies of my latest credit card statements for cards used.
photocopies of the front and back of credit cards used (enlarged for clarity)
photocopy of the front and back of my drivers license.
phone numbers and contact names for a rep at my bank to confirm my address.

Is this common requirements for such a circumstance.

I should say that the letter was very polite and explained that due to the address confusion it was in the best interest of all to get solid confirmation of my address and account info.

I don't have a problem providing this info if it's common practice.

Is this the start of a run around, or a cautious book protecting my money?

    Any comments would be appreciated.

I think this is total bullshit. I understand that the books are trying to protect themselves from fraud and all that, but all this is way too much.

They are not entitled to copies of my credit card statements. They are certainly not going to be calling my bank - that again is none of their business.

I don't have any objections to the copy of the driver's license.

I use a post office box, that is not listed as my driver's license address, so they never match.

Bottom line is they can have the same information they required when I signed up and no more.

I don't know the books involved (but would like to) so I can't speak to the question about the intent. If they are on the BW list, you will get the cash.

    As always - Good Luck,

      Thanks Sonny

The name of this book is Sportsbook.com

Has anyone reported slow/no pay with this book?

      Does anyone use them?

If you used a credit card to make a deposit, they have a valid reason to request a photo copy of your credit card and driver's license. That's pretty standard, but should ALWAYS be specified as such in their web pages, to be seen clearly for anyone wishing to make a credit card deposit.

The other stuff if bullcrap. They don't need copies of your credit card statement, and they don't need a bank reference. I wouldn't want them calling my bank.

Sportsbook.com is affiliated with Players Only and they owe me money and refuse to answer my emails. If that means anything to you I don't know. As far as producing photocopied credit card and drivers license information that is often the case in sportsbooks and casinos. They can do this at there discretion. It's common to be done for foriegn accounts and just to verify info is correct some times for large cash outs. Also it can be a bit of a delay tactic. You are not able to withdraw for a week or two while you gather info and wait for a responce from the book. They hope you will continue to wager of course.

            Thanks for the reply guys.

I'm sending them the works, plus a DNA sample.
This is a fair chunk of change for a semi-square like myself.

I'll keep you updated, hopefully all will be well.

Well I'm quick to complain when I think there is a problem, so I should be equally quick to praise when things go right.

I sent an E-mail looking for clarification on the information the audit required for my withdrawl Friday the 22. Sunday morning I got a reply requesting I call Lucy, my account specialist.

I called this morning and it looks like she's cleared up all my obstacles for a withdrawl.
She suggested I simply change my account to receive my payments via bank wire.

She was very helpful and my anxiety has now switched to optimism.

I'm planning on sending her the information today. She estimated I would have the payment in 2 to 3 days.

Any comments on using bank wire for withdrawls?

Do many of you use this method?

Again any response would be appreciated.

              Thanks

                Allwrong,

Bank wires are the best option. They are done very quickly. You can request them right online with your bank info and they show up in 2 days. Also, there's no fee for anything over $1000. Otherwise it's only $10. Plus, you don't have to take a check to your bank and wait for it to clear. Once it's in, it's in!

                    Bman66,

The only thing that I don't like about bank wires is that you are giving other countries your bank info.

I talked to my bank manager about security and I was assured that withdrawls could only be made with my signature and lots of identification.
I'm thinking if you were still concerned.
You could have two accounts and keep the one you use for recieving bank wires at a zero balance.

I was a little slow proccessing my withdrawl I actually did it today 27/06/01.
I'll update when the funds are in my account.

                        Here's my update:

                        27/06/01: Requested bank wire.

01/07/01: Received unprompted update from Lucy B. saying wire was being sent 01/07/01.

03/07/01: Another unprompted update apologizing for the delay and assuring me bank wire was to be sent 04/07/01.

05/07/01 PM: All requested funds are in my bank account.

Overall I am generally happy with the service Sportsbook.com gave me on this payout. I received updates from the service staff without having to badger them.

I would recommend using the bank wire option for payout if it's available at any book. You can check your balance at any time using telephone banking. As Bman66 said, no waiting for cheques to clear, and Tom Hanks won't be using you cheque for kindling on some deserted South Pacific island.

I'm going to be making a withdrawl from my Carib account now. I imagine Western Union would be the best option with them. Or do they offer bank wires also?

                        Thanks for your input guys.

                          Allwrong,

I'm really surprised it took that long. I guess there was some type of bank delay. I too get the unsolicited email saying the wire has been sent and to expect it within 72 hours. The funny thing is I usually get that email on the third day after I request the wire, but the money shows up the day before.
