  • The Poker Players Will Not Play

I just talked to the mover. The Poker Players will not play this season. They want to play, but Government heat and hassles have forced them to quit.

    Goverment heat?
Is it really possible for the goverment to stop a person from going to a pay phone and dialing a 800# and place a bet offshore?

I doubt that someone with there smarts will let the goverment totaly shut them down, maybe they will just tone it down a bit.

Maximum Value, good to see you back in the forum. Where have you been hiding yourself?
Certain people will no doubt bet the Poker plays on an individual basis, but if the Pokers function as an organized national network, the Government might shut them down and confiscate their money. The Government stole 4 million bucks from Artie (a big bettor and money mover) last year and have yet to even charge him with a crime.

          reno,

Thanks for the info. Getting ridiculous with the government involvement in our lives.

I am somewhat surprized that they do not move offshore to avoid the government hassles. But perhaps they have not made arrangements for their $$$ to be moved to an offshore destination. Too bad, the lack of moves is making for very little scalping opportunities and a boring season altogether.

Why do the Pokers live in the US? Surely they can enjoy a better lifestyle in the Caribbean... and less government hassle

Not so sure about that "better life style in the caribbean"......

But since baseball isn't their sole source of income, I imagine the hassle of moving offshore simply isn't worth it.....

                Reno

Thanks,I usually don't post too much during the NBA season and since I don't cap baseball I can relax and start posting more and reading more post from all our friends here at BW.

I can understand the Govt. stepping in and putting some heat on large scale operation
but one has to wonder why can't they just farm their plays out to a fresh set of runners and have them sit on the money until things cool down so it would seem like they have retired.

To let a whole baseball season go down the tubes not to mention the money that goes with thier successful operation seems like they could come up with something creative to keep it going.

                thanks for the response Reno
