  • Hello, Is Anyone Home?

I didn't think it was possible for phone accounts in Vegas to get any worse. After all, the ever-vigilant Nevada Gaming Control Board, obsessed with preventing bets originating from outside the state, had already forced sportsbooks to limit players to a paltry $2,200 in total wagers in a 24-hour period. What more could they possibly do to screw-up phone betting?

Well, leave it up to the resourceful Nevada Gaming Control Board to find new ways to ruin phone accounts. Now they have forced Leroys and the Stardust to use a computerized phone system that dials you back after you call the phone account. Then, when you answer the computerized call, you can proceed into the system and access a phone clerk who can take your wager. If that sounds like a pain-in-the-ass, wait 'til you hear the kicker: When the computerized phone system rings you back and you pick up the phone, approximately 98% of the time the line is dead and the system then hangs up on you. Welcome to the Brave New World of Nevada sportsbetting.
