Question On their golf interactives this week they allowed purchase of shares prior to tourney which I bought some of Mickelson for $4.During course of day I was going to sell at $10 but noticed got "event paused" after reading further it stated it would be paused till tv coverage started. When tv coverage started I still got event paused and even though shares were as high as $60 at one time I could not sell, and got "event paused"to conclusion of tourny.
Aside from feeling ripped I am curious if wagering is suspended, how are the odds making $50 swings through course of tourny.I thought odds changed on publics perception and their buying and selling and it appears to me evidently they are being adjusted in house so to speak. If there is logical explaination to the contrary I am all ears.

TV coverage wasn't live yesterday. Because of possible storms, the tourney moved all of the tee times back into the morning, and by the time the tv coverage came on, the tourney was over, or right at the end.
That's twice this year that this had happened. I don't know if this is something new or if tourneys have a policy of doing this, but I never knew of it before. It's taking a chance on the interactives if this is going to happen regularly, or even 1 more time.

      Thanks Jason
I was aware of scheduling. However only 2 players in contention were Woods and Mick.Their rule did not state "live" coverage only would betting would resume when TV coverage resumed. The shares I bought @$4 prior to 4th round went as high as $60.When tv coveraged resumed (delayed about 12 minutes for finish of NBA) there were about 22 minutes till Woods holed out which I should have had opportunity to sell in the $40's.
However that be what it may I am more curious to line movement during the course of event when there are supposedly no wagers being made.I am not going to say what I am thinking until I see opinions of those more savvy to this than I but there appears to be something rotten in Denmark if a book can freeze out players in interactives and adjust the lines in between and if given opportunity to lock out everyone through entire round despite tv coverage starting it would appear to be a little larceny involved.
      IMHO

        Dogs That Bark,

WSEX was very disappointed that there was no
live coverage of the golf tournament. Sundays are always are busiest and most exciting day for interactive golf. For obvious reasons the event must be paused
while they are playing and there is no live
coverage. For example if Tiger's drive on 18
would have gone out of bounds his price would have gone from 55 to 0. If I didn't
see his drive and some customer did, we could lose thousands of dollars on the sale
of Tiger at 55. We could also lose a fortune
on people buying Mickelson at 40. For these
and other reasons we simply cannot keep an
interactive open when there is no live tv
coverage. As for the markets changing during
the round I was following the scores on PGA.COM. I moved the markets based on the scores I received. Many customers called and
traded out of their positions. Had you called during the tournament I would have
given you a market on Mickelson. Many of our
customers sold their shares around 50 a share. We have been the only company offering
interactive wagering for nearly 5 years. It is extremely popular and most of our customers understand our rules. If you have
any more questions please call me at 888-498-8227.
        Sincerely,
        Steve WSEX

          Steve,

          What happened to XFL interactive?
You have not offered it since week 3/4.

Steve Thank you for response and let me add before going further that WSEX has always been one of my premier books and will continue to be so despite this episode.
Would like to clarify a few points though and we'll let it rest.
Understanding the rules is very important and many problems stem from not reading them which would pertain to myself on many occasions but correct me if I'm wrong that statement said when tv coverages continues with no mention of word "live".
When coverage is not televised or live and we punters have to rely on live scores on pga.com as you do. How does that put us on an unequal playing field.
As far as you losing money by event not being offered Sunday I could not think of more profitable scenario than to be able to hang all punters with no bailout and ride the fav to the finish.Even if Mick won, at $4 a contract prior to round your risk exposure on him was quite small compared to the Singhs and Garcias that were hung.
Appreciate gesture of be able to phone them in which I was not aware of mostly cause I figured there would be no difference.
Again thank you for your response and kudos for running quality shop despite our differences on this issue.

DTB, As a frequent player in interactive wagering at WSEX I can answer some of the questions you have asked. You asked why can't the interactives be open during the round even though the golf is not on live television? The answer is simple if you think about the tens of thousands of people at the tournament with cell phones. The PGAtour.com show a live leaderboard but it is delayed. Would you leave the interactives open if you were getting delayed results when some of your betting customers were getting the results live?

Cell phones are not permitted at PGA tournaments. Someone once mentioned here that during the early days of interactive golf, WSEX got beat by wiseguys at the event using laptops with wireless modems.

Good points by all and much appreciated. From my personal observation any interactive that can be paused to the punter and open to book to move lines at will is a risk I am not willing to take.No offense to WSEX mind you,its a situation with no remedy and they are one of few books who offer 20 cent lines on their regular matchups and for that I am grateful.
