3-8 oly was first up with tcu line first half 70 game total 166.5. As i have done before i played first half over game total under each for a dime, hoping for a double win or a split at worst. Ten minutes later i add dollar on the game as this position seemed slightly more attractive.1 hour later i leave for work, when i return i see my halftime bet erased and i lose on game total. I explain to oly that the 2 dime plays were made withen 60 seconds of each other and were in fact contigent on each other therfore i should be refunded on my losing wager also, oly says bad line you lose we emailed tcu players, So i wasnt home to perhaps check my email. On the bad line how was i to know which if any of the lines were bad nobody else had the totals up yet and i in fact played more on tbe "sharp line" if i was trying to scam them i would of weighted more cash on the bad line. Granted if the total would have won i would have kept it, The evidence that the bets were contigent on each other is there, as well as evidence that i was not banging a clearly mistaken line. When someone puts out the first line there is an inherent risk of that line being off, and cancelling a bet and expecting an email to be fair notification is very weak, when i was with bowmans they would at least call me on the phone when they were about to give me the shaft.

70 + 96.5 = 166.5

I'm almost always on the player's side of a debate, but in this case I think Olympic did the right things: (1) First, the line was off by an amount that makes it clearly an error. This isn't just a point or two, or 15-20 cents on the moneyline as we've heard some bookmakers will do. Second, they cancelled the wagers before the event started. Third, they attempted to contact all the players involved to let them know of the cancellation, prior to the event. If there were a code of bookmakers ethics, I think this is how it would read.
The game total line was not in error, so they wouldn't have the right to cancel that wager.
If I were the bookmaker in this case, and saw that the player not only played the bad line but also hedged it with the first half total, I'd give him a warning. Seeing the disparity between first half and game totals must have raised a question about the validity of the line.

It is amazing how often someone will try to pull a fast one on an obviously bad line.
This line was so far off my blind grandmother would have known it.
What is even more amazing to me is why Olympic didn't close out this guys account (and send his balance) for attempted theft ...

lets see tcu averages 81ppg away and now playing without 2 of 4 top scorers, hawaii averages 65ppg away. Oh my gosh the halfime line is 70 what an obvious error. If the line was so bad i would have played the limit on the halftime line and very little or nothing on the sharp game total. Well i only played the limit on the game total. Lets see Olympic put up the first playable total they have a low limit to protect themselves and to adjust from. My record there for years has been sterling, I in fact have notified carib on bad lines ore than once, i have a record of playing halftime lines agianst totals at oly. Oly should have called me right away giving me the chane to retract my dime wager on game total. Get real I dont check my email every hour and oly should cancel my dime wager on the game total as a majority of evidence indicates it was played only vs thehalfline do the right thing if you cancel a dime wager after you decide a line is bad then call me up (email is a sorry same day contact method). Well since i banged texas even at oly i better check my email because they might decide the line should be -1.5.

There are many books that won't bother to try and contact the players in cases like this. Others won't even decide whether to cancel the wagers until the event is over.
The only question here is HOW should a book try and contact the players. I know quite a few that would scream if their books called them on the phone (unsuspecting spouses, work numbers, etc).
I can see Greg's point, but Olympic may have done the best thing for all in general.

If you are a college hoops newbie and you think you know what a half time line is,
70/166.5
for a half time total of 70, the actual full time totall should be around 138-142.
for a full time total of 166.5, the actual half time total should be around 82-84.
What will you do?
If you are Greg who "knows college hoops that well - as so many people said", you should know the half/full time total in college hoop should be around 46/54 or 47/53.
70/166.5
for a half time total of 70, the right full time total should be around 150.
for a full time total of 166.5, the right half time total should be around 77-78.
What will you do?
For a moron like me, I understand either one of them should be WRONG, and I don't need to give a fvck about which teams average how many pts in the season or which teams have how many injuries.
Obviously, betting over 70 and under 166.5 is a very SAFE bet.
You can see his point? Sorry, I can't.

Believe the point of the matter initially how could one tell which line is off. While I am no hoop expert by any sense of the word there occured some wierd lines in Durant/Houston golf matchup this week,as much as a 60 cent swing at one book from opening line to line next morning. Now if I scalp this and they cancel the initial and I am hung with the losing side you better believe I am going to be pi$$ed.
IMHO All the business Greg has done with Oly during the years I would have figured a call to Spiro would have resulted in void of both bets. The problem is situation was not discovered until after game was over the way I understand it.While it appears logically the 2 bets go hand in hand from the books standpoint they would have to basically take Gregs word for it which knowing Greg the way I do would be good enough for me,the question is it good enough for Spiro?

Attempted theft?!?!?! That's a little harsh. I think that this is the book's fault, NO wager should ever be cancelled after it is placed, if a book erred on a line, then they should have to suffer the consequences, a little thing called responsibility. When you go into a store and a product is marked for an incorrectly lower price, the store HAS to give it to you for the lower price. I expect a bettor to jump on a line like that, you always have to look an edge, even if it's at the expense of the book's fault. After all, a book would NEVER let any of us cancel a wager after it was placed (after finding out Kobe was sitting out), so why should they be able to, especially when they are in a better position to acquire the correct information in the first place.

98 % don't beat em especially when 100/-110 is deamed fair and square standard. The few sharps I know of which I am certainly not one never miss the opening line in hopes of finding week lines to expose before they get adjusted.
I know weak lines and bad lines differ but can assure you that attacks on gregs integrity are unwarrented. He is one in a handful of people I have met on the net that I would not hesitate to give access to any of my accounts with complete confidence.

Wisedat-
I NEVER EVER have any sympathy for a book (maybe in the event of a natural disaster), and if they consistently make line errors, then they should not even be in the business. Trusy me they have no sympathy for you, who else comes up with so many gimmicks/bonuses to sucker customers in?? The hunted cannot have pity for the hunter. If it's not my taking adavantage of their consistently faulty lines that puts them out of business, then them just being generally stupid/irresponsible will do the same.
