  • A Hockey Question for Sportsbooks

I noticed at Centrebet.com (an Australian book that doesn't cater to Americans), that you can bet 3 way for hockey. They have the normal puck/moneyline bets but they also offer a separate wager where you can bet on home win/visitor win or tie. Like with soccer the tie bet is a winner as soon as the game goes into OT. Considering that 28% of hockey games do go into overtime this seems like a good wager. Is there any chance of other books that DO cater to U.S. citizens offering this?

Also in soccer you can bet on correct score wagering and first goal scorer. Again this would be a great idea for hockey. Any takers or is hockey just not a lucrative enough sport to bother?

Pretty much all the euro books do that. I've been playing with interwetten, unibet and worldbet, sometimes you get a big difference between the -0.5 and the 3-way... Today, boston was pick +170 while you could've had +265 on the 3-way...

Check out tip-ex for a comprehensive list of books that offer this format.

        Hartley,

Consider the odds you would be giving on correct scores in hockey - would people bet them? Veikkaus does Finland for selected games, but parimutuelly.

Given a multi option bet like that the market will be higher so would imagine a lot of people would stay away.

Do 28% of hockey games go to OT, or is this just this season?

Hartley, I am also interested in where you got the 28% figure. I am seeing some lines at 450. Seems to me that it would be quite profitable over the long haul, especially if you stuck to low scoring and evenly matched teams.

According to my numbers, 218 out of 997 games (21.86%) have gone to OT this season compared to 260 out of 1148 last season...
            (22.64%).

I think you're getting 4.50 not +450 in most situations...

            Draw your own conclusions...

I think your stats look more realistic. There are two games today listed at +450, american odds

That sounds more like it, not too likely somewhere like Centrebet going to put up a free money nobrainer scheme like that for you.
