  • NASCAR QUESTION FOR SPORTSBOOKS....

A COUPLE OF THE SHOPS I CONSULT FOR ASKED ME WHAT TO DO IN REGARDS TO THE EARNHARDT JR. SITUATION THIS PAST WEEKEND.

NASCAR IS NOT MY STRONG SUIT.

I CALLED AROUND TO A FEW FRIENDS IN THE BIZ AND THEY SAID IT WAS NO ACTION BECAUSE HE DIDN'T COMPLETE ONE FULL LAP.

DON BEST SENT OUT AN URGENT MESSAGE CONFIRMING THIS RULING.

I ADVISED THEM TO PUSH THE BET.

    CAN ANYBODY CLARIFY THIS FURTHER?

    THANK YOU.

I hope all the books find an absolute answer to this one. But doggoneit, why aren't the rules clearly posted?

I had Dale Earnhart jr in a matchup and I deserved the loss, because my guy couldnt finish a lap doesnt mean I should be rewarded. But if those are Las Vegas rules and Olympic wants to give me my money back thats fine, But I wouldnt expect that.

In my opinion, since he started the race
the bets should all count and not be "no action." Maybe the rules vary from book to book. I don't know. What is the difference
if he crashes on the first lap or the 2nd
lap? I had a matchup bet against Jr and it
        was rightfully graded a winner.

When we called Don Best about their urgent message they had no explanation why. I have a few friends in Vegas and they said Vegas books ruled action. We have posted on our website that if a player takes the Green Flag then all bets are action. How is car racing any different from answering the first bell in boxing or teeing off in golf? DE JR. clearly started the race therefore in my opinion all bets were on.

          Peter

PS. We graded this wager No Action because of the DB message but in the future if a driver takes the flag all bets are on.

            PETER,

I AGREE WITH YOUR ASSESSMENT OF THE SITUATION.

IF A BOOK HAS ALREADY GRADED IT NO ACTION AND NOW RESCORES IT A DECISION,THE PLAYERS WHO LOST THIS PROP WHO DON'T HAVE THE MONEY NOW IN THEIR ACCOUNT WILL HAVE NEGATIVE BALANCES.

YOU KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN HERE,YOU WILL NEVER HEAR FROM THESE CUSTOMERS AGAIN.

RULING IT NO ACTION AS PER THE DON BEST URGENT MESSAGE IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO NOW FOR THOSE BOOKS WHO HAVE ALREADY GRADED THIS PROP.

I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE WHO DIDN'T GRADE THE PROP TO SCORE IT A WIN AND IN THE FUTURE ONCE A DRIVER TAKES THE GREEN FLAG IT IS ACTION.

            THANKS,PETER.

Just like the books who steal money from winners. I guess there are cheats on both sides of the fence, huh?

                DRAGON,

ARE YOU INSINUATING THAT ANY BOOK THAT HANDLES THIS SITUATION LIKE GRAND CENTRAL SPORTS AND C.R.I.S. IS STEALING?

No, not at all. Just pointing out your apparant distrust of players. Seems to surface all the time.

                    DRAGON,

HAVING WORKED IN MANY BOOKS I HAVE SEEN THE NUMEROUS WAYS PLAYERS HAVE SOUGHT TO CIRCUMVENT THE RULES,TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MISTAKES,CHEAT,ETC...

I HAVE ALSO SEEN PLAYERS OWN UP TO BAD FIGURES ON THE PART OF THE BOOK.

WHICH EXAMPLES DO YOU THINK I HAVE SEEN MORE OF?

IN THE GAMBLING WORLD AS IN THE REAL WORLD THERE IS GOOD AND BAD AND THERE ARE HONEST AND DISHONEST INDIVIDUALS.

IT IS THE WAY OF THE WORLD...

I just wanted to see if you would give the player any credit at all. Which to your credit, you did. You're right, there are good apples and bad apples on both sides of the fence. The reason you see more bad players is twofold and simple arithmatic. One, you're on that side of the counter, and two, there are more players than bookmakers. So naturally, there are more, in number, bad apple players than bookmakers.

                        DRAGON,

NOT TO START A PISSING CONTEST HERE BUT PERCENTAGEWISE THERE ARE MORE LESS THAN HONORABLE PLAYERS THAN THERE ARE LESS THAN HONORABLE BOOKMAKERS.

IF YOU WORKED IN A BOOK YOU WOULD ACTUALLY BUST OUT LAUGHING AT ALL THE DIFFERENT SCAMS SOME PLAYERS COME UP WITH.

                          Reality,

90% of Offshore books claim Vegas rules apply. Now you are telling me Don Best is the source.

As a player, the explanation of "We followed Don Best and can't take money from the players who played on Earnhardt Jr" does not cut it. The book could have waited to grade the play.

You should advise books to do the right thing according to Vegas Rules.

Perhaps. But I still laugh hardest at the lame excuses that some of those less than honorable bookmakers come up with to not pay winners. What will they come up with next?

Dear Mr Jones, we regret to inform you that, although you have played in our book for several years, and consistently lost, your current run of luck can only be attributed to you being a part of a syndicate. Thereofore, we must confiscate your account balance, and ban you from ever possibly winning again.

                              From Olympic website:

Odds on all major Nascar races are available.

                              Nascar Win Odds
You may wager on a driver to win the race at fixed odds. Wagering on the "Field" includes any driver that odds have not been assigned to.

                              Nascar Match-Ups
When wagering on a match-up, both drivers involved must start the race and drive at least one lap, otherwise the wager is "No Action" or "Push/Cancel" and money is refunded. In a case where the starting driver (having driven at least one lap) is replaced during the race with another driver from the same team, the position the new driver finishes in will be awarded to the original driver. This holds for wagering on win odds and/or match-ups.
