the closing of "a bookie joint"

i had won a contest during football season at mad jack's sports & the prize was an account at "a bookie joint". i know they have since gone out of business. was wondering if anyone has heard of any of the accounts finally being paid. i guess this was probably a topic in this forum at one point in time but i rarely get in here so i missed it. any info would be appreciated. i didnt have a whole bunch in there but it was another shop for comparing the numbers for me.

by chance, i cashed out before they went under

i did receive a check from them but they were to credit my original deposit back to my credit card...that hasn't happened yet

i e-mailed them about it and they actually e-mailed back asking for more info but they haven't responded since and i haven't seen the credit yet

at this point i would be surprised to ever see that credit and i feel lucky that at least i did get my winnings out

no doubt owners/managers of bookies joint will turn up at other books or start new ones. I hope the forum alerts posters regarding where these people go so we can warn each other to stay away.

I also won a contest account, and have been waiting for over a month for a payout. They are supposed to open in another country for NFL. If they don't pay, and open again, I'm sure someone will alert the public.

What makes you say that they are opening up in another Country for NFL? How reliable is the source?

That's what the owner of ABJ told MG Sports about 5 weeks ago.

I heard the chances of contest winners receiiving any money are slim to none. Post ups will get paid, if anyone is paid first.

Bettorstalk... Here's the quote from 1/23/01.

"Spoke to the owner Fri, at that time he indicated he`s tired of the biz and the local gov, and wants to shut down and re open for football on a diffrent isle. Also told me everybody will get paid. Since than spoke to a few site owners, and the story seems the same, but no mention of re opening for football."

thanx for the input...looks like it may be awhile before any resolution...maybe the owner(s) will re-open on another island & will make good on his cutomer's accounts. i actually had very little problems with them prior to this & hope they get back on their feet but i guess we will have to wait & see. thanx again!

well that's good news Jeff so when i get my next credit card statement i'll report if i got paid or not

they haven't answered an e-mail in quite some time
