  • question regarding credit card deposits

    I haven't done a credit card deposit
to a book in a few years. What is the current policy now?
I tried to do one at olympic. They only
accept visa. But my issuing bank
    MBNA America wouldn't allow it.
What issuing banks allow credit card deposits to sports books.
    Does Citibank?

Avoid using cards from the large banks. Most small banks don't have any policies against gambling related charges.

I'm sure Citibank is not allowing credit card
      transfers.Try Sportsinteraction.com
Wagerstreet.com. Both in Canada. Also try Sportsbook.com I've had no problems with these three and they pay.You may have to
get a PayPal account.Deposit money into it.
      Then transfer it to Neteller.com
Many of the Offshore books are now using
      Neteller.WSEX & Olympic charge you $15.00
to withdraw funds under $500.00 I beleive.
Check all the books that offer Neteller.
      Some are free withdrawals.Sportsbook.com
has no charges for monies coming out.

Well citibank will allow it..but is going to be a "cash advance" So no way i'm going to do that. The weird thing is OLMYPIC accounting dept said they never have any problems
        with MBNA nor CITIBANK..yet I couldn't
make a deposit w/ either of those 2 cards.
I called olympic and they have no idea why its not working.

I TRIED DEPOSITS WITH BOTH CITIBANK AND MBNA WITH OLYMPIC AND THEY WOULDNT GO THROUGH SO I CALLED CITIBANK AND MBNA TO FIND OUT WHY NOT. THE PEOPLE THERE SAID THEY WOULD NOT LET ME CHARGE BECAUSE IT WAS A GAMBLING SITE........EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY CARDS PAID OFF......GO FIGURE??

mav- that is exactly what they told me.
mbna..said no way. citibank..said..yeah..but its going to be a cash advance. No thanks.
I think it may be a vendor problem..olympic.
In the past...a couple of years ago..I was
getting "purchases" into my wwts account
            w/ citibank.

Using CC's to fund gambling accounts at this time is tough. The charges encountered if accepted are high. I would set up an account with Neteller and fund your acount with CC and then forward it to Olympic. Olympic picks up the charges if the deposit meets a minimum requirement. Otherwise, try western Union. GL.

Got to be a crazy first this, banks or credit card companies denying themselves money. Then again, banking in the USA still fairly backward, when it comes to the electronic age.

                  Dylan,
I prefer a bank debit card. You know the kind that is tied to your checking or savings account. There is certainly no cash advance that way. But you probably would be limited to 500 a day or so.
That doesn't address the processor issue for the sportsbooks but at least your side of it should work OK as long as you don't bank with Wells Fargo or Chase Manhattan who have rules against using any financial instrument for gambling purposes. You can't even deposit a check from a book.
So back to square one. Credit cards are nothing but trouble. Withdraw the cash from the bank and go to western union for a green form or money orders and mail it.

I think Neteller is the easiest way to go. Just link your checking account to Neteller for electronic transfers (to and from), and you never have to leave your computer.

thanks for all the replies. I really
loved a nascar matchup at olympic and it was
late and didn't want to do a sportsbook transfer. I would have ended up losing
the play so I'm glad they didn't accept my
                      CC.

                        hey bucky..are you kidding me?
Wells Fargo won't let you deposit a check
                        from a offshore sportsbook??????????????
This is the first I've heard of a bank doing
this? So some banks aren't accepting deposits
if you get a check from a offshore book?
I usually get checks from WWTS and they are drawn out of a bank from Miami, FL so I have no problem depositing/cashing them.
anyone else hear about banks not accepting
                        checks from offshore books???

I don't know how the bank would know where it was from. In most cases the checks are drawn on a bank account without the sportsbook's name.

I have used my Wells Fargo Debit card at Olympic and had no problem ( both charge and credit back).
