  • Pinnacle - Tired of Loggin In

I really like the web interface the Pinnacle website, and the speed and ease of placing wagers. And you can't help but love the 105 juice on all NBA sides. But I've decided to lay 110 elsewhere. Here's why:

    (a) I usually take 2-3 hours to study teams, look at lines, and place wagers. Pinnacle requires me to log in about every 15 minutes, which gets kind of old. This is even to see lines, not only to place wagers.

    (b) Even at 11:00 a.m. Eastern it is not unusual for all the NBA games to be circled, with a nickel limit.

I'd return in a minute if they would fix these problems.

    hiya,

we usualy are of the same mind (I don't mean to insult you) about books. I think you are wasting a good opportunity to help yourself by leaving. I've left books for incompetent help, payout problems, misquoted lines, and seeing MY limits reduced. Your problems with Pinnacle seem to be a notch below these complaints. They are solid, have 5 cent juice on sides, overnight lines, and phone wagering. Money is easy to send/receive. Why not keep them as a secondary out? I just had to argue with a book to not limit me to $100 ($100!!!), and you want to leave Pinnacle? You must have some really good outs---please tell me where you play!

I thought you could just see the lines by clicking on 'Guest'.

Isn't it CRIS that won't let you even check out their lines unless you sign up with them?

Pinnacle doesn't seem to time out that fast for me? Canbet is a whole other story........

Chilly, you're sorta right about this. Pinnacle really has a lot to offer. I suppose that part of the problem is that I'm trying to play at too many different places. I play at quite a few screen books (premium and IX), as well as several others.

They are all good books in many ways. So when I try and trim down a few, the ones that get closed are those that have small limits and are difficult (time-consuming) to use.

I could leave a small amount at an on-screen book, use them as a secondary out, giving them as little as one play per month - there's not much work involved. But if I have to bring up their website to see the lines, and log in over and over, and then get a small limit when I'm ready to play - that's a lot of work for a small return.

So it's basically a matter of laziness.

I agree with you 100% sportshobby, I love Pinnacle's interface and 5% juice, props on NFL. However, it really sucks to have to keep logging back in when you have to make a bet or check a line. I will not signup with a new book whose software timesout. It might sound like a little thing to some, but to me, with all of the good books that don't time out it can be a deciding factor.

              SportsHobby, TopSpinner and all,

I'm in a pretty good position to answer your questions as I put the Pinnacle interface together.
The reason for the time-out you are experiencing is due to a collection of variables called the 'session' variables. Basically whenever a user comes to the site the session variables are set and they remain with the user for a certain period of time.
There are a couple of things I can do, firstly I will immediately extend the session variables (default is 20 minutes, I have already increased to 60 minutes), I will now extend further to 120 minutes. Secondly, I'll have a look at changing the way we handle that so if you are still on the website they'll never time-out.
The problem that the programmer has to face is that each set of session variables use a certain amount of memory, so you don't want to have thousands of session variables being stored for users who have already left the site. I'll get around that.
Thanks for your input on this matter and please understand that constructive criticsm is always welcomed.

AV, Canbet recently changed the timeout to 60 minutes.. much more convenient now.

AJ - wow! and thanks. I have already take down all my funds, but with Neteller I can come back quickly, and I will.

Any chance of getting most of the "circled" wagers lifted no later than 10:30 a.m. Eastern?

                      SportsHobby,

I'll speak to the helm and make them aware of your request re the circled games, I'm sure that they'll do their best.

                      I'll let you know asap.

                        Ajt

Since you are here, how about adding 1 link, so after you make a wager you can click on to automatically get back to the lines.

                        Thanks

Yeah, thats what I thought AJ, your session timeouts were certainly not set to 10 minutes.

Fin - that is good, I did seem to notice it stayed a bit longer at Canbet yesterday, so cool.

Sportshobby, glad to see you are going to stick with Pinnacle. Without a doubt one of my favorites and will certainly be better when the don't time out(although I would swing by and refresh the lines every 10-15 minutes and it hardly ever timed out). Neteller is great for your situation. My problem is most of my BR is in nonNeteller books.

Jinxbebe, it would be nice to get back to the lines you were viewing with a couple less keystrokes.

Exactly what I mean, i hate when the line changes also and you have to start over again.

Also can you get all HT lines on the ESPN college basketball games.
