  • NetWriter is Cool!

Being a lazy shopper, I play almost exclusively from what I can see on the Don Best screens (premium and IX). I make a few exceptions when a book has (1) non-clone lines, (2) very quick online wagering that DOES NOT time out, and (3) automatic or single-button odds refresh, and (4) good online limits of at least a dime. WSEX and Carib are examples of these.

Now this new Netwriter software (sportbet, 5dimes, and other Unified books I think) really looks appealing, and I'd like to hear some feedback to those who have actually used it. It seems to be very quick, automatic updates with highlighted changes, no time-out, and everything.

Isn't Netwriter a separate Java based applet that requires keeping another window open?

Curious, I think you're right. If you have enough memory, however, you can minimize it and run it alongside other windows.

It appears to be very stable. I had a Netwriter window open for more than 24 hours, without any problems.

Sounds a bit clunky and inconvenient. What do you do if you're checking lines at 3 or 4 different places that use Netwriter?

It's true that one can look at more lines on IX than using Netwriter or just web browser windows. I was thinking of adding a couple NetWriter windows to my my IX screen.

With 128 MB of RAM, I can open up and run around a dozen windows simultaneously.

I doubt that the Netwriter window takes up much more space than another IE window.

IMO the netwriter system is rubbish, all hype no substance.

Several books out there have way better software right now and it aint even close...

phaedrus, maybe different players like different things. Go back and look at my four requirements - there aren't many online books that can claim these things. Auto refresh and no time-outs are unusual finds.
