  • Kudos to Intertops

I spent this afternoon watching the final event in a prestigious ski-jumping tournament held in Austria. Although I usually follow mainstream sports, I found this sport fascinating to watch.

After watching the previous event held a few days ago, I thought it would be good to make a few wagers. In fact I received several tips (all of them the same incidentally) that were supposed to be "bankers." And so I went on a crusade in which I ransacked the websites of every one of my outs (30 in total) to find one that would carry odds for this event...

The result: Apart from local outs, Intertops was the only one! Kudos for making the effort to bring such a wide variety of sports for everyone to bet on.

Intertops gets much more negative criticism than they deserve. They were the first online book I ever posted with, back in 11/97, and if I ever quit, they'll be the last. As far as feeling secure, not to mention desire to improve interface and widen betting options, Intertops is top tier.

I agree. And if you like Reality tv shows, I guarantee you Intertops is the only one you'll be able to bet with for Survivor 2, The Mole and Temptation Island. Sure the limits are low, but the idea is to give the bettors a fun option - it's not intended as a big betting option.

No one can ever say Intertops lacks for bet options, and as far as limits go, I guarantee you their limits are high enough for 99% of bettors out there. Every once in a while you'll hear bickering that they only take $5,500 on football sides, but in reality how many people will bet more than that on a game. I know I wouldn't.

        Cons

Betinternet.com offer odds on Alpine Events, including Ski jumping.

Take a look at our website, loads of soccer leagues to chose from.

          Cons,

A few euro places do do ski jumping - not sure if Centrebet does, they might, don't know anything about it

intertops, however, has several basketball leagues from europe now, so good on 'em for that - have not seen that anywhere else.

            Hartley,

Yeah, if you can bet 4 figures on something, that is reasonably big.

If I ever get to the stage of complaining about not being able to bet 5 grand on something hopefully someone kicks me and tells me to donate some money to charity

Centrebet has ski jumping, including the German-Austrian tournament. Didn't know Itops offered it too, good to know.

I checked Canbet (which didn't have any lines on the event) but not Centrebet, because I don't have an account there. Their choice of currencies is appaling (from my point of view).

Fin, are you going to go to the event in Finland in February? If so then let me know so we can meet up.

Yeah, and from my point of view their choice of currencies is excellent

Ok, so our local currency only exists for one more year anyway so it won't matter for long.

As for the championships in February, hard to say yet.. haven't actually been to such an event before. The games last 11 days, not many events on a single day which is bit of a drawback. But it might be fun to go there?

Cons, why would you think the yank focused Canbet would have ski jumping?

Fairly obviously, Centrebet is after 'dem euros from cold places.

FWIW, Czech books offer odds on just about any skiing event possible (and an incredible amounts of other sports actually). Trouble is, none except Tipsport offer a phone service so you need to go to a shop personally to use them. (and Tipsport requires minimum trebles last time I checked, with very unfavourable markets)

What's that AV, ski jumping isn't popular in the Americas or Australia? Weird

Well, some people probably do it somewhere.

PC, is there a tax emposed on bets in the Czech Republic? I placed a few bets with high-street sportsbooks on a recent visit to Poland, but the tax on betting there is 10% - taken off your stake straight away!

Fin, I just realised that the event in February is quite a long one. Maybe it would be a good idea to head up there for the last 3-4 days or something?
