  • *** Licensing and regulation on Costa Rica? ***

As many of you already know, there currently is no real sportsbook licensing and or regulation in Costa Rica.

There's a movement underway to change all of that.

There is a group, currently forming, made up of sportsbook reps, which intends to lobby on behalf of the books, and hopefully work with the Costa Rican gov't towards regulating and licensing sportsbooks.

Any sportsbooks not currently involved in this, feel free to contact me with your thoughts and opinions. I will be able to provide more details shortly, and pit you in touch with the right people.

Players with opinions or comments on this, feel free to chime in.

Again, as more details become available, we'll pass them along.......

Is this a good thing? Or not?

Can't see how it can hurt..........

    Jeff:
Very valuable. Take a look at the Australian laws at the www.canbet.com/au site. Very well written. Call me crazy but a player should be able to write to the licensing government and get a response about a problem. Believe me it gets an insurance company, bank, real estate broker, stock market or commodities broker's attention if the licensing board notifies them of a complaint.

Australian laws vary by state, by the way, they are not federal.

I think it would be great for Costa Rican sportsbooks to unite, form an association, and then pro-actively engage the Costa Rican government regarding issues such as licensing and regulations. It would also be a good idea for the books to hire a top Costa Rican negotiator with powerful government connections to represent them.
