  • Royal Sports-More Than A Few Weeks Now

Sorry for the inconvenience, but lines will not be
displayed on the Internet until our new system is
    tested and released.

At this time we have installed the new Telephone
Sportsbook Software and are optimizing our systems
before we release our new Internet module.

We anticipate no more than a few weeks for this
    process.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please call for lines and line updates.

This is the screen that comes up when you try to access Royal Sports betting lines over the Internet. This screen has been there since about October 25. Royal, this is now much more than a few weeks and apparently none of your clerks seems to know when this upgrading will end.

In addition, Royal you picked the most inconvenient time of the betting year to perform this upgrade. After the NBA/NHL playoffs and before the beginning of the NCAAF/NFL regular seasons is the more appropriate time of the betting year for a major upgrade to your Internet system. That is, the middle of June through the end of August. At this time, (in the U.S.A.) the only major sport to bet on is Baseball. There are at most 15 games to bet on for any day.

However, you chose to make this upgrade during what has to be the busiest betting time of the year. Over the past month, we have the NFL, NCAAF, NBA, NCAAB and the NHL. On any given day there could be far more than 15 games to analyze and view lines for. I myself have not bet anything other than football because of your Internet lines being down. It's difficult enough to win because of the "vig" that sportsbooks charge, let alone trying to do this without the convenience of tracking thier lines throughout the day.

In fact, I remember there were problems trying to access your lines while the World Series was in progress. There was no advance warning of this upgrade and your clerks did not know why the lines were not working on the Net. This is not good customer relations. I can't say that communication between Royal and the customer has broken down since Royal has not really communicated with the customer at all.

So, Royal, how much longer do we have to be inconvenienced and when can we go back to the good old days of accessing your lines on the Net? FYI, this upgrade is of little value to me since I will probably never make a bet with you over the Net.

Please respond to this post with why this is taking so long and when can we expect this upgrade to be finished?

    Thank you

P.S. I have won money from you since this upgrade started. So, this is not a case of "sour grapes". All, I'm stating here is that more than a few weeks has passed and I'd like to be able to have convenient access to your lines again.

No one is more frustrated than Royal that our internet software is behind schedule. There are three different companies involved that are working hard on getting this site in releasable condition.
As far as posting lines on the internet, we were unable to justify the continuation of paying thousands of dollars in licensing fees to the database manufacturer we were formerly using before installing our new software. Note, we have always been a telephone book. Lines on the internet were done as an extra convenience until we finished our internal developement. For those who have come to rely on this extra service, I would be glad to recommend a handful of other sportsbooks who I believe do a good job and will pay you if you win that also have their lines viewable (and even bet-able) on the net right now. When we are back you can try us again. We believe no one in the industry surpasses our integrity, so hopefully soem who have moved to more technically advanced books will keep an open mind once we release the net betting software. Aknorman, I appreciate your candor and I hope my honesty at least clears up any doubts about Royal or its intentions. Thanx Wim

Wim-Thanks for your candor. But, all I really want is an answer as to how long you believe it will be before you publish your lines on the Net again. Your honest answer will help me to decide if I need to sign on with another book now.

If it's going to be a lenghty process, then I'll leave my account with you and get a second book (which is always a good idea for a bettor anyway). However, if it's a reasonable time, I'll tough it out until you're back online.

Look, I just want to know so I can make a proper decision. Other than the internet lines, I have no problems with your book and hope to have avery long term business relationship with you. That is, until our screwed-up govermnet here decides to crack-down on all our fun.

Thanks for responding and I look forward to your answer.

        aknorman,
I think what Wim is saying here, is that his word and that of the company's means more than nailing down a date. He would rather be honest and tell you the situation than give you a date and not make the date due to circumstances beyond his control.
My own opinion is that when the site is up and running, your patience will be rewarded, and you will be very glad that we didn't wait for baseball.
        Best wishes for the season,
        Rich

Chillin-the-Most-Ok, I understand. I'll start a new post to see what other sports books are out there which are similar to yours. Let me make this clear, I will be leaving my account active with you and will obviously continue to bet from it.

Hope you get this done soon. Best of Luck.
