  • The Greek, questioned Play....

Hey before I write anything more, I want to say thank you for taking the time to speak with me today Spiro, and for the nice little comp that you gave me. Your the best........

Now, the question at hand is this I had in the monday night game the shortest touchdown would be under/over 1 1/2 yards well I had the over and there was a questionable call on ABC they said the ball was spotted at the two and it really was spotted at the 1 1/2 what happens with this because he ran it in and it was said to be a 1 yard touchdown? I was just curious how this would work but the results havent come in but i thought i should post this ahead of time. Thanks

This may differ from place to place, but here’s the way I believe it should be interpreted, in keeping with how the NFL calculates yardage:

The next yardline up from the nose of the ball determines at what yardline the play officially starts. So if the nose of the ball is at the 1.5 (or 1.1, 1.7, 1.999999, etc.), then the line of scrimmage is the 1.

A scoring play does not count the goal line in its yardage. So, a touchdown on a play that starts from the 1 (i.e., anywhere from the 1.0 to the 1.99999) is a 1 yard play.

If the nose of the ball on the play you’re talking about was anywhere inside the 2 yard line, then it was a 1 yard touchdown, and the Under wins that bet.

      Hi LP7SLIP,

I graded the play as a 1 yard TD. I've noticed that anytime they spot the ball between the 2yd line and the goal line they call it a 1 yd TD. I grade the props based on the results that are posted in the Box Score from places like the Don Best Sports , cbssportsline, espn, etc.
