Is it safe to place internet wagers from a public internet cafe? I am traveling to Australia soon and am wondering if I will be able to get my bets in. Since I don't have any Aussie accounts, the only way would be to access some of my accounts over the internet from a public internet room. I am wondering if this might allow someone else to access my accounts after I am done.

Had no problem wagering from NZ, Thailand, and India earlier this year. As you might suspect, the internet connections got slower in descending order. Stick with books that have simple, no-nonsense servers. Time differences are a problem for overnight sports like hoops and hockey. Missed a Columbia-Cornell hoops winner that way, but got it when teams played again the next week. Scoresandodds is an example of a simple operation that gives you basic odds and scores. If that won't work, you'll probably have trouble getting your bet in.

Mikren - I placed bets using Internet Cafee's while in Europe for the World Cup a couple of summers ago... You should not have any problems from Australia, as long as you can find one of these bloody places. If you know where you're going, check in advance or check at the tourist office and they will tell you where they are. I've placed bets from about 8-10 countries at the time (1998) and didn't have one problem...
ShiftySheik's suggestion is a good one... Make sure you use a browser you're familiar with and end the session when you're done. This is one time when having one of those books with timeouts is a good thing...
At least you won't have to deal with "modified" keyboards, try finding the q key on a german or danish keyboardLOL Even worse in Greece...
Happy travels...

Thanks for all the replies. I'll be mostly in Adelaide and Sydney and it seems there is plenty of public internet access available. I'm more concerned about getting all my contest picks in (why waste a whole season on these things if you have to miss a week?), but I figured while I'm at it, I might as well get real bets in as well.
