Wow, I've been unable to get to the boards for nearly 24 hours, so I missed Mr. Humble's last post.

    Mr. Humble,

Wow, you really put me in place. I don't think I can stand the humiliation of being so soundly thrashed by an intellectual giant and successful businessman as yourself. Oh, but you must have inherited your money considering you took a limo to school every morning.

But in light of how smart you are and how much money you have, perhaps you would consider proving the former and in the process confirm the latter. My info is readily available in my posting profile on this site, if you would post your e-mail address and your real name, then I have an idea how you and I can go about establishing who's smarter and in the process, one of us can make $10,000 off the other. Interested??? The have the sack to post your e-mail address and real name (mine's Mark DelPopolo and the e-mail is mdelpopolo@gameplanmagazines.com) and I'll enlighten you as to how we can have a little friendly wager as to who is smarter. What do you say Mr. Humble???

This sounds like the Reality/Reno challenge. ;(

        Sportshobby,

Not quite, Reality/Reno was a faceoff between two extremely intelligent guys with a vast knowledge of the sports gambling business. These two just didn't agree on some key issues and had a personal dislike for each other, but I think you'll agree that both of them know what they're talking about.

This case is very different. The only thing Mr. Humble and I have in common is that neither of us is particularly easy to get along with, but unlike Reno/Reality, my fight with this guy is an intellectual version of Tyson versus Spinks!

Something to ponder. This case will more than likely wind up in the Florida Supreme Court, and all 7 Justices were appointed by Democratic governors. "Nobody, said life was fair."

P.S. I'm laying 2-1 the U.S. Supreme Court won't even hear the case.

            Jeff,

This is a very good point and I agree with you, though it's only six of the seven justices, one was a recent Jeb Bush appointee. I also agree with you that U.S. Supreme Court may not grant "cert" and hear the eventual case regardless of how it's decided in the lower court. This is a "Catch-22" for Republicans who like to champion state rights over federal power. Ironically, the Supreme Court justices who you would identify as "conservative" may decide that this is not an issue that comes under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and thus allow the lower court ruling to stand. The only reason the U.S. Supreme Court may get involved is because the Florida Supreme Court may rule that Florida's disputed electoral votes should not count towards the overall electoral process because there can be no positive outcome of who won Florida. If that happens, the total number of electoral votes drops to a level where Gore wins no matter what happens (provided other states don't change in recounts) because he'd have greater than half of the "eligible" electoral votes. If this were the outcome sanctioned by the Florida Supreme Court, the U.S. Supreme Court might see it as a Federal issue and take the case.

Mark you win. Any guy that is willing to put his real name and e-mail over the internet is definately more intelligent than I. I hope Bush wins just so in 4 years from now I can laugh even harder at the United States, love the irony of those 2 words. Its not like the US has been going downhill anyway, its not that most commercial property in the US now belongs to Hong Kong. Its not like US kids are killing each other. Hillary Clinton is definately not a criminal by any means. Its not like American music standards are bad for kids. Great country. Bet it will be called Hong Kong 2 by the year 2020. Good luck Einstein, you guysa already need it. You are too intellectual for me Mark, you know it and I know it. The white flag is waving in my corner.

so sorry that I missed this thread earlier this week--If I had, I wouldn't have spent so much time worrying about who our next President will be--- in my opinion, the only thief is NOT GORE, BUT THE LUNATICS THAT ARE RUNNING HIS LIFE--NO DOUBT the democrats are trying to backdoor in--why so many SHADS FOUND ON THE FLOOR THIS AM AFTER A "MANUAL COUNT", huhhhhh!?!?

anyway, after reading these posts, living in the USA even with GORE AS PRESIDENT IS FAR, FAR BETTER THAN THE PROSPECTS OF LIVING IN CANADA, WITH THE HORRIBLE CHANCE THAT I WOULD HAVE AN A$$-WIPE LIKE "MR. HUMBLE" AS A NEIGHBOR (PROBABLY NO CHANCE, THOUGH--SINCE I ONLY MAKE 250,000. A YEAR, AND HAD TO CARPOOL TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL)
IT IS HUMOROUS, THOUGH, TO LISTEN TO SOMEONE THAT KNOWS NOTHING, AND I MEAN NOTHING, ABOUT LIVING IN AMERICA, AND OBVIOUSLY NOTHING ABOUT GORE AND BUSH, based on his simplistic view that GORE IS GOING TO "HELP" AMERICA (let me tell you , BUB, SETTING UP GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS TO MANDATE EVERYBODY'S LIFE IS NO HELP TO ANYONE...AND PLEASE, NO DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT--THE F*CKING OZONE WILL BE AROUND A LOT LONGER THAN ANY STYROFOAM--HELL PROBABLY LONGER THAN IT WILL TAKE FOR MEXICO TO WHIP CANADA'S FANNY IN WWIV (THATS WORLD WAR 4 FOR YOU PANSIES IN CANADA, SINCE YOU OWE ALL OF YOUR F*CKING FREEDOMS, AND YOUR HIGH INCOME, TO THE GREAT USA THAT YOU,"MR. HUMBLE", FIND SO EASY TO CONDEMN.
SO , COME ON PRESIDENT BUSH, GOODBYE IMMORALITY----AND F*CK-OFF, MR.HUMBLE, AND THE HORSE(er- I mean limousine) THAT YOU RODE IN ON!

I would just like to make some observations and provide my opinion. First, Gore has not officially won the popular vote yet as there are still millions of votes yet to be counted. Gore may still win or he may not but the electoral system was setup by our founders to protect the people from the "tyranny of the majority". Second, the United States is not a true democracy but a representative republic for if we were a true democracy we would just have national referendums on every issue instead of relying on Senators and Congressmen to represent us. Third, Bush won over 2434 counties to Gore's 677 and if one looks at the distribution of these counties Gore basically won the majority of the 20 or so largest cities and that's about it. I for one do not want the 15 or 20 largest cities dictating policy us because the vast majority of them just want handouts from the rest of us. Last, I am a Republican but I have to admit that I am a little disappointed in what they try to do at times. They seem to get preoccupied with trying to dictate social policy, which by its very nature is counter to conservative thinking. They should concentrate on economic issues, their normal strength, and try to find a conservative solution to healthcare and education. The problem I see with the Democrats is they keep giving more people some sort of government help and use scare tactics come election time saying people will lose these "entitlements" if they vote Republican. It is basic bribery. I know this is a simplistic view alot of people will disagree with and that is fine for this is just one man's opinion. Whoever wins is in for a rough ride no matter what.

Scott... As a Rep, don't you think it would be prudent to pay off the National Debt before giving back all those tax refunds. I guess too many people are making too much money off the Debt.

                      Jeff K.,
Your point is well taken and yes I do think paying off the debt should be first and foremost along with paying back the Social Securty IOU's. No tax cuts should take place at this time with the economy healthy but should be considered if a downturn occurs. I disagree with most Republicans on this issue and I disagree with Gore in selectively picking out certain spending patterns to give a tax credit. I believe the baby boom generation accumulated this debt and should pay it off and not leave it to their kids to worry about.

                                Reality,

If that's a compliment, thanks. Of course, I suppose it could be a "dig" to, but I'll take it in a positive light.
