Disgruntled Republican New Yorkers have absolutely no right to complain about Hillary Clinton being a "carpetbagger."

      Let's look at the facts:

Some of you may recall the late Nelson Rockefeller (R), former governor of the Empire State. Ever heard of his brother, Winthrop Rockefeller (R)? Well, guess what state Winthrop Rockefeller was governor of back in the late 60s and/or early 70s?

      Arkansas.

How about Jay Rockefeller (D)? Formally a Senator from West Virginia.

In short, NY has exported various office holders to other states. Now, New Yorkers, of their own free will, have elected by an overwhelming majority Hillary Rodham Clinton, native of Illinois, formerl of Arkansas, to the United States Senate, over the home grown stiff Rick Lazio.

What's good for the goose, as they say, is good for the gander.

        david666,

Did it take you 3 days to research that and fire off a counter? Were you in class? Or were you in S.Fla demonstrating for a revote?

By the way preppie, what gives you the right to infer that I'm a racist? Forget about that John Rocker knock down pitch, I'd stick it in your ear!!

        Love, Ronbets

Don't they usually elect Demos in New York?? If Daniel Carver(KKK) was running as a democrat, they'd probably vote for him too. Instead of going for the best person, people love to vote along partisan lines. Just look at the Presidential vote map, state-by-state. It's such a f*cking joke...

            Ronbets,

I told you this guy david173 was a clown, I'm glad you got a little nastier.

            TO DAVID173,

Where the heck do I start? Ok, first of all I'm well aware of the Rockefeller family and their disgusting habit of running for office. While I personally would still call this carpetbagging and would criticize them for it, they are nowhere near the category of Hillary. Please note, Win Rockefeller DID own property for several years in Arkansas when he ran for Governor there, though his tax return indicated he was a NY citizen. So while this is still carpetbagging by my definition, it's not as bad as Hillary.

Two, I assumed you were trying to Jay Rockefeller, "formerly" a Senator from West Virginia, not "formally". I assume you meant past tense and not that he was a real snazzy dresser, right? Well, that's pretty interesting because if you knew anything at all about what you're talking about, then you would be aware of the painfully obvious fact that Jay Rockefeller is STILL a U.S. Senator in West Virginia.

You might have known that if you weren't too busy protesting on CNN where you are defending the rights of people to be morons, which is what they are if they couldn't figure out that ballot.

            Now here's some advice:

            1. Drop your protest sign and put it away until the next World Trade Organization meeting or next political convention.

            2. Stop spending so much time at Starbuck's where you and the rest of the coffee house crew are planning your cultural revolution. The caffeine seems to be damaging your brain.

            3. Eat some red meat, that's brain food to all you tree hugger types just in case you were wondering.

            4. Stop accusing people of racism just because they don't agree with your monolithic, narrow, politically correct view of an issue.

As for me, I'll retreat to my red meat, budweiser and cigar, while watching pornos, while simultaneously cleaning my 45, hoping beyond all hope that some birkenstock wearing, latte drinking, animal loving, vegetarian, wannabe hippie like yourself, will get up the guts to throw the first punch...

              Mark,

You had'em pegged. Great response. You have just made All-Net first team debater.

If I get back to NYS this summer, maybe we'll get together at the Turning Stone. BYOB unless they caught on this is the 21st century.--Ron

                Ron,

I thought you were a West Coast guy, what in the world were you doing at Turning Stone? I live about 40 minutes from there and they still have the no booze rule unless you're one of the many politicians the Indians "grease" then you can get all the booze and broads you want, courtesy of them!

Seriously, when you do get out this way, contact me first and I'll show around Central NY, but I'd wait until at least May because the winter is lurking here. Also, if you haven't been there lately, they just opened a new golf course this summer that is WORLD CLASS. No kidding, this is seriously up there with the Pebble Beachs and Pine Valleys of the world.

                  MarkDel:

I find your politics abhorrent, and am offended by your insistence on resorting to name calling, insults, and mean-spirited stereotypes to score points off those you disagree with. At times your posts actually make some intelligent and articulate points. Unfortunately they are marred by your superior attitude and your silly posturing as the poor oppressed underdog defending common sense and the good old American way against the conspiratorial forces of evil led by the likes of dangerous radical Al Gore (!). I’m sure that tired old right wing schtick is great for rallying the troops at the militia meetings, but I’m sorry you’ve chosen to poison what is supposed to be a non-political forum on sportsbetting with such drivel.

I read forums like this to keep up on the offshore betting world and to try to further my education as a sportsbettor, and perhaps to help those who are even less experienced and sophisticated than I about such matters. I don’t appreciate reading your paranoid, violent fantasies about killing “hippies” and members of other groups you obviously consider subhuman, or your implied calls for armed insurrection in the other forum. (Certainly one hopes they are only fantasies. But unfortunately some people who spew out your sort of hateful and demeaning rhetoric—-and many more people who hear it and are influenced by it—-take it beyond the level of fantasy, with tragic consequences.)

Obviously since I’ve expressed disagreement with you, I must be one of those evil “politically correct” people trying to silence your courageous and lonely voice of truth. I’m sure that makes me worthy of your contempt, and deserving of lots of choice insults, since you clearly delight in getting “nasty” and encouraging others to do likewise. So be it. I’ll survive.

                    Zippy,

Actually, you are somewhat correct, I have been ranting and raving a bit lately, but just a few points...

                    1. Why is it OK for David173 to imply Ron's a racist, yet not OK for me to trash him for doing so?

                    2. I'm sure you understand that the last part of my post here was a joke, if I was serious about threats, I wouldn't be posting them here. Just so you understand, people who actually utilize violence don't sit around contemplating and posturing, they just do it.

                    3. How would you feel if the government put you in jail for gambling? For looking at porno? How about for expressing your opinion, no matter how unpopular, on the internet? That's what I'm fighting against and you are too just by being here and gambling on the net, you just don't realize the full ramifications of your acts.

                    4. Do not categorize me as "right wing" that term should be reserved for religious zealots, bigots, facists, neo-nazis, etc...I am none of these things and if you check ALL of my posts, you will see no evidence of that. What you detect is a hatred of those who subtly attempt to control your life. You see, the religious zealots, bigots, etc..all the anti-freedom forces on the right, you can see them coming a mile away which is why they don't frighten me. But the similar forces on the left, they're much smarter and more clever in their attempt to limit your freedoms, which is why I reserve my most bitter comments for them.

                    5. You may not realize it, but they've done a nice job on you too. Notice your use of the buzz word "right wing" even though all of my posts point to a total libertarian slant. The media, your college professors and other members of the intellecual left have been so successful at demonizing anyone that stands for freedom, that the mere expression of the word and the rhetoric promoting prompts you to call me "right wing" which has all kinds of negative, pre-conceived implications (racist, etc...) that go with it and thus label me with baggage that I did not earn.

                    6. What politics of mine do you specifically find abhorrent? My belief in personal responsibility? My belief in the freedom of any individual to do anything they want provided it doesn't cause overt harm to anyone else? Perhaps my desire to fight for your rights even if you aren't willing or capable to fight for your own? My belief in the principles of the US Constitution? The First Amendement? Second Amendment? Which is it Zippy, all of the above?

                    7. The truth is you don't disagree with me on any of those issues, you just disagree with my tone, not my politics. And to a large extent, you are correct, my tone is abhorrent, but I'm sick and tired of sitting back and playing by rules which do not apply to the people who create them and you should be too.

                      Zippy,

Wait a second, I was actually feeling kinda bad here for a second, but then I began to read a little closer in your post. You say that I HAVE chosen to poison what's supposed to be a non-political forum that's supposed to be about gambling issues only. Well, two thoughts...

                      1. You are dead on target, this political stuff has no place here now that I've given it some thought.

                      2. "I" am not the one who started this thread which was not about gambling, and "I" was not the one who compared Ronbets to John Rocker because he doesn't like Hillary. For right or wrong, this forum does occasionally enter into politics or other subjects only marginally (at best) related to gambling, but hey, it's not like I'm the only one doing it! And I've got the courage to post here under my real name, which most people don't for obvious reasons, and I stand to lose a lot here because I make my living off the sports gambling business and I'm probably costing myself a lot of would-be customers like yourself with my political views. But don't blame me exclusively for something that is done by dozens, if not hundreds, of people in this forum and the other site's as well.

                        Mark/Zippy.

Since neither of you guys embrace the PLO, nor want to change the Constitution or electoral college, a cease fire has been declared.

I would like to add however, the rant on HRC is not only emotional but financial as well. I took a huge price with Lazio. I broke cardinal rule #1. NEVER BET WITH YOUR HEART! In the real world, good doesn't always triumph over evil.

Frankly, politics bores me and I ordinarily have little interest in the subject. However, the subject of politics belongs in this forum because it is inextricably linked to offshore sportbetting. Simply put, powerful factions in the U.S. government want to limit our freedom to gamble. Consequently, politics as it pertains to offshore wagering needs to be an integral part of this forum.

Regarding politics in general, if someone such as Ronbets or Mark wants to express a political opinion or philosophy in this forum, I have no problem with that. Anyone is free to disagree and express a contrary point of view or belief system. In my opinion, polemics spices up the forum while political correctness deadens it.
