Conversation last week ...
Me: What about the Redskins/Jaguars game?
Her: Redskins four and thirty six and a half.
Me: Okay, I'll take the over, laying $1.1X
Her: Okay, you're taking the Redskins game to go over thirty six and a half, laying $1.1X for a takeback of $2.1X
Me: What about the Rams ...
Her: Wait! Hold on! ... the total on the Redskins game has moved to thirty six. Did you still want the over?
Me: Um, okay, yeah.
I pass this along because a) it's mildly amusing and b) I've heard people complaining in the past about books moving a number against them in a situation like this. The obvious question that comes up is, would a book ever tell you if a number moved the OTHER way? I can say that in at least one case, the answer is "yes".
