  • A Word of Caution

Friday i made a bet via the internet with Canbet to take advantage of the 7% vig which i won so i thought. When i checked my balance non was added or subtracted. I Called Canbet and they showed no record of my wager but would check into it. I called back the next day and they showed where i had made the wager but did not press the CONFIRM button. I thought i had but didn't record it. Having never had a problem with other books in the past, i just never wrote it down. They maybe right, mabe i hadn't but have no way of telling. I've learned my lession and will ALWAYS make sure in the future i record the the confirmation number. You should too...

This has happened to me also, but I'm sure it was my fault. Canbet has an extra step in the process of confirmation, as compared to some other books.

Writing down the confirmation number is a good idea, if for no other reason than to make sure yourself that you have a wager. It's probably not a bad idea to print this screen out, either. Otherwise, if there's a dispute you have nothing but the book's computer record of what the wagers was.

I like the e-mail wager receipt option offered by some books (BetEuroSport, SportsInteraction, etc).

I see their software still sucks. This happened to me over a year ago, but I caught it. They told me the page has to fully load before pushing the confirmation button, or it won't take.

This is a very valuable reminder, and I’m glad you brought it up. I always make it a point to go to the “pending bets” page and print up all of my bets for my records.

Perhaps this is a good place to mention a related pet peeve of mine. To the books: Please, on the page that lists all the customer’s pending bets, make sure that all of the relevant information is included-—the event, which side I have, how much I’m risking, the odds, how much I stand to win, etc., etc. At more than one of the places I play, only some of this information is included, along with a “click here” to look in more depth at each play one at a time. That means I have to either print the list as is, with only some of the relevant information, or go to each and every individual bet page and print them all up separately.
