  • Intertops

I used to bet with intertops awhie ago, but I got tired of their low limits and difficulty getting funds in. Anyway they had a special on the Kansas State /Olahoma game today. So I deposited some money in and was trying to bet Kansas state but accidently bet Oklahoma. I called intertops seconds after I place the bet and the supervisor Dawn told me they cannot change the bet. I explained it was an accident and the line did not move. So there is no harm in changing the bet. She said there was nothing she can do because shawn the line manger said they will not change a bet. I couldn't believe this. This has happened to me twice in the last five years - Once at Olympic and once at Millinium . Both times these quality books reversed my bets - no problem what so ever. I suspect that if I was not up many thousands with Intertops that they would have changed my bet - which just goes to show you what kind of a fraud this book really is. Stay away from this place. I'm closing my account Monday.

Sword, I've always felt that it was fair for a sportsbook to have a "no change" policy for confirmed bets; but only if they do the same in a situation where they make the error.

In other words, if this book posts the wrong favorite and you bet it (with confirmation), then they should not ever be allowed to cancel the bet.

I really doubt that Intertops would sign up to this, though.

Just what I thought. I called one of my friends who has an account with intertops. He saids intertops did cancel a bet he made a mistake on awhile ago. This does not surprize me since he is down t alot of money to Intertops. Its the same old story with Intertops if your winning they treat you like **** or boot you, if your losing the world is yours. Different rules for winners and losers. Not a place I want to do business with.

I'd have to agree with sportshobby on this one. Even though it was a mistake, you had to have looked at the line and confirmed it. You cant expect the book to change it especially during the weekend when they are up to there toes in work. I had a chance to talk with GCS on one instance. I had to cancel a bet on a game, a thursday night football game and it was for a big chunk of cash and well he was telling me that it was fine and dandy during the week but he is way to busy during the weekend and wouldnt be able to and i have to respect that. when you sign up for an account they have that same clause in the agreement so dont there doing wrong because there not

I think if you phone right away they should reverse it.

What pisses me off is how often I end up betting the wrong side on a game. I just found a mistake I made this week. (Expletive deleted) The line had moved so I had to by back the game and pray that Florida doesn't beat Auburn by 8. (louder, longer expletive deleted) Every few of weeks I make a mistake like this. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

Thanks for letting me rant, I feel better now.

Don't read so much into it. You should have just bet the other side and moved on.

To come in hear and spout off that they are a fraud because of that seems a little harsh

I appreciate the comments and perhaps I was a little harsh but if you think about it why couldn't they have reversed the bet. It was made at 9:00 am in the morning not exactly crunch time. It seems hypocritcal to me when they have canceled bets on me that I made and they made a mistake on. I can think of one in particular. Several years ago in the NCAA tourney it was down to 8 teams and Utah was winning their game at halftime. For what ever reason Intertops forgot to take down their future bets. So I bet $500 at 100 to 1 on Utah to win the whole tourney. Shortly after Utah wins and is going to the final four my bet was canceled by intertops because they made an error and should have taken down the future bets once some of the games started. Keep in mind Utah still had to win two games before I could collect. Utah did not win it that year but I would have still made a ton of money going the other way on Kentucky in the championship game. My point is if they make a mistake they simply tell you there is no bet, If you make a mistake - its tough luck. This and I know they have changed bets for other people. The rules should be the same for everyone. If they want a no change policy - do it for everyone and if they make a line mistake there should be no changes either. They should live with it. It should work both ways.

Talked with Shawn, the linemaker. He was sorry about it and changed your bet to K State. You lose, buster !!!

Sword, now you're talking. Fair is fair - a book should decide and post what is its policy regarding changes. Either both parties should have the right to correct a limited number of errors prior to game time, or neither.

Sword1, Intertops isn't alone; plenty of sportsbooks won't let you change your bet to the other side. However, selectively allowing "losers" to change their bets while not allowing "winners" to do so is unacceptable. Intertops certainly won't win any popularity contests in this forum.

Sportshobby- I do not think that Intertops would sign up for that either, Mainly because it would make disasterous business sense. Your saying that you like the no change policy but if you think about it, if 1 guy makes a mistake it affects 1 guy only. We are not all going to make the same mistake now are we - Most of us check our bets before we confirm anyway - A sportsbook however is going to get hit by every scounderel that thinks he is going to make a quick book or feels that winning is second to integrity, which in my experience of this industry will be a lot of hits.

It is not difficult to see that this policy would drive a lot of books out of business, sometimes listening to the rants from punters on this site, I feel that is what they would like, until there are no books left. Then there will be just a load of gamblers with nowhere to play, like the bad old days.

I wonder if sword1 uses the same tone when he is on the phone to sportsbook customer service operators as he did in his post, maybe they remembered him from before and decided he was a pain in the RRRRR's and thought why should we help him. If customers are going to go in all guns blazing when they feel they have been wronged CS operators/supervisors are going to use their powers of discretion to gain a little payback. Don't forget wrong and right can be very subjective in this business depending on which side of the counter you are on.

I am not saying that Intertops were right but I play with them a lot and consider them my friends. I am starting to win now and in time they will boot me or I will outgrow them and move on to a bigger book. But with no regrets and I certainly won't go back regardless of promotions/incentives. I certainly do not think they should be labelled as 'Frauds' some players need to take a deep breath and calm down before they decide to post or make that call to CS otherwise they run the risk of appearing idiotic.

                              Socceroo,

Lets see you never made a post before on bettorsworld, but your so moved by my complaint that you wrote your long elegant response. I sure you just an ordinary player. Do you think by posting this long post anybody is going to believe you don't have an invested interest. If you think about it logically the part about my attitude makes no sense. First of all intertops is an online book, there is no dealing with the customer. The only time I called was this time when I made a mistake and believe me I was very nice until I found out they were not going to change it. Why would I be mean initally - I admitt I made a mistake - my daughter was talking to me and I made a mistake. Please don't come in here acting like your offended for intertops because everyone knows you are intertops. Its sound more like you were personally offended. Maybe your the supervisor I spoke with on the phone. You never posted before on any subject before this. I will respect responses from regular posters.
