Is the bonus that important to you when you join a sporstsbook?

I read some past posts and the first thing that came to my head was....

hmmm in the old days when most everyone bet with the local man, there was no such thing as a bonus for betting against him.

More and more all I read or hear when someone inquires about a book is how good is their bonus, or who has the best bonus or the biggest bonus.

Granted offshore betting has spurred this methodically to the players. However one should be more concerned over the safety of their money rather than the size of their bonus.

What good is the size of the bonus if you never see your money?????

Something to ponder next time you go for that great big bonus that sounds to good to be true.

Give me the book that I know is safe and I need not worry about the bonus.

JMO - but there are plenty of SOLID books that have incredible bonus programs.

When I find a solid book that also has a great bonus program - why would I even think of shying away?

From my experiences, I have never had a problem with pulling out funds/bonus $$$, as long as I have adhered to the bonus rules stated to me previously. Yes, most of the rules require you to wager between 2-5x your initial deposit (some ask you to also roll over the bonus they gave you on top of the deposit). They also ask that you wager for 30 days minimum.

I have never found this to be a problem. However, I do also understand that there may be some who don't like this. That is fine, the bonus program has been instituted for one reason and one reason only - to entice ppl to deposit their money into a sportsbook.

When you plan on opening an account, ask as many questions as you want until you feel you have gotten a good feel for the book you are dealing with. If you don't like what you here, go elsewhere. There are plenty of places to take your business.

Freak, you're right that safety is more important than bonus. But both are nice.

As far as the comparison to the old days, you didn't post up your cash with the local man. He didn't keep your money interest-free while you bet from it.

He came to break your legs when you didn't pay. Not you or I but in general.

I am not saying that because a bonus is too good to be true there is something wrong with the book.

However they offer them for a reason.

I prefer well-established books with juice discounts (Canbet -107, Carib -102 NFL on Tuesday) to bonuses as lesser establishments. The juice discount pays tremendously in the long run.
