  • NCAA OT

This has been in some other forums, no real clear cut answer.

I say it can fall 8....once the ball is turned over that is the game. Does matter if the guy runs it back for a TD. It is not going on the scoreboard. There cannot be an additional turnover because the game is over immediately upon the change of pocession.

I don't know where Lori from Rio is coming from, but she is dead wrong.

Let's see the rule if she is so damn sure about. But at the very least let's get this thing settled correctly

Let's hear from some veterans on this one! Please!

College game can fall 14 in ot. Team 1 scores goes for 2 successfully.Team 2 gets ball and then team 1 returns fumble/interception for touchdown,no extra point.Game fell 13 in pac10 a few years ago.

yes indeed and i won on that game. usc was the loser, can't remember the winner though (oregon i think).

Orgon was laying 8 or 9 and scored on their possesion. The usc qb fumbled and the ball was picked up and returned for a td.

Arizona State won that game in the Pac-10 a few years back. They were favored by 8.5 or 9 points and Fatboy is correct - they scored on their first possession in OT and then ran back a turnover for another score, thus winning by 13.

The game is not over on a change of possession in OT...I don't know where that came from.

For the love of mike. I know about the USC game and Refs made the wrong call. Now can someone come in here and tell me the rule VERBATIM or are we going to chat about who played in that USC game.
Let's here from someone who has some knowledge.....
Reread my original post ....I contend the game is over on the change of posession.
Reread it and then explain how it can fall 14 if what I say is true

If what I say isn't true well than rebutt it with some facts ...don't come in here and tell me how it can fall 14. I know HOW it can fall 14 ...I think it is impossible due to the rules.

You can't stop a play while it is in progress. If a defender intercepts or picks up a fumble and decides to return it and scores (obviously he should take a knee or run out of bounds) it will count.

How could you stop the play while its going on? Haven't you ever seen a defender fumble after making a turnover? In that case, the original team could return that fumble for a score.

so 14 (8+6)is the max. they wouldn't kick the extra point in the above scenario.

Sorry to intrude on your post with worthless banter about who played in the game.

14 is the magic number because a play is not blown dead on the change of possession in a live situation.

It astounds me how many people wager large sums of money on sporting events when they don't even know the scoring rules. Let's all blame the ref, he never knows what he is talking about. The ref must have blown the call if the call didn't go my way. Sorry for my sarcasm.

Noholdsbarred - who's Mike? Is he one of the "don't know the rules" ref by any chance?

Chill out man, we gave you the intelligent answer you craved, go grab a beer and smile!
