I've seen NHL periods on slow weekday nights before basketball season gets underway. Olympic & Skybook had them. If anyone will have them on a regular basis it would be Olympic. They always have periods available before the game starts. Don't know much about wagerstreet, I'd like to get some feedback on them too.
The difference between what Olympic and 5 dimes are doing, and what Wagerstreet is doing is that at Olympic you have to bet period lines BEFORE the game starts.
This wasn't the case with Wagerstreet last night, they put up an Live line at the intermission for the ESPN game. (only get ESPN now that I am in the US).
www.goldenwager.com has 1st period lines as well as a Moneyline, a 1/2 and a 1.5 puck lines on all games. On slow days 1st, 2nd and 3rd period lines on televised games as well as adjusted game prices during intermission!!!
I am a big Olympic guy-but you are right-they only post period bets before the beginning of the game. Waht good will it do you to bet the 3rd period only before the game starts?? How they play in the 3rd is determined by the score after 2 periods. To me these books are admitting 1 of 2 things.
#1-their guys don't know hockey or #2-they don't care. I think it is a little of both. How hard would it be to hang a number up after a period-not confident-put a limit-I'm not looking to bet $10,000-but I guarantee Myself and guys could rip up any number put up.
Hey Wannabe- Sounds like you just answered your own question why Olympic puts up the period betting before the game and not during intermissions. "I guarantee myself and other guys could rip up any number they put up". Well let me think about this for a second, hmmm. Why would anybody put up a number if they cant win with it?
Hey Whale, wagerstreet is offering "intermission" betting on select hockey games, for example last night we put up an "IN GAME" line during the 1st and 2nd Intermission of the Montreal vs. NYR game, we also put up a 1st intermission line on the Stl vs.LA game and the Boston vs. Anaheim game.
You can find these selections in our "IN GAME" section which also featues MLB playoff "in game" lines. If you think you can rip us apart you are more than welcome to give us a shot.
It's hard enough figuring out the outcome of an entire game, let alone just one period... I wonder if the guys stay up with Direct TV and watch the game before the period or they just set it according to the score and power ratings...
God forbid there's a carryover penalty, or worse yet, game misconducts and the likes...
May all your bets be winners

First of all-I don't bet enough to "rip" someone apart-it was an expression. Second of all, books know guys are good at certain sports and they still hang a line up.
I checked out Wagerstreet In Game-but I want all games posted-not just some or TV games. First Period Mont\NYR was 0-0 and a TV game-how hard was it to bang out a number?? LA\STL was 4-0 after 2-what would you have hung on the 3rd period?? The Ingames are for the whole game correct?? Leaves alot of room for games with HUGE or no lines. Why not offer 3rd period only??
Seems you can bet on just about anything nowadays-just not hockey periods.
-Now DGOON-that is a man who I know could rip these lines down.
Hey Whale, We offered a line on every game last week in EVERY period, we even had a few games up DURING the games, not just at intermission.
The problem is that right now we are concentrating on Baseball playoffs In Game betting with an updated line every inning and sometime in between pitches.
BTW, if I was still at the office, I would have hung a line on the the St.Louis vs. LA game, the line would likely have been LA-3.5,-130
We have another line supervisor coming into our shop from out west this weekend, and once he arrives, I suspect that I will be able to offer more and more in game/intermission lines, Right now though we have our hands full with MLB.
