  • The Doctor Recommends Tradewinds

This is unbelievable! The Rx plugs Tradewinds on his site - says the "ALWAYS PAY". Isn't this the book co-owned by Gary Austin? I know there have been some posters here saying that there were players in his old LV book that were never paid, after being "robbed".

Brian and Jeff, et. al. - you are not allowed to comment, especially considering the shrink's lawsuit against BW.

About 6 or 7 years ago, before all the glut of offshore books, I used to play with Heritage, Tradewinds, and WWTS extensively. During that time, I received substanial payouts from all three books, but most notably from Tradewinds. I initally joined both Heritage and Tradewinds because of the infamous Football Betting guide. But when I found out about FBG being a scam and the previous history of Gary Austin and Tradewinds, I too was nervous and closed my account temporarily. However, over time I noticed all the reputable sports book in the FBG and have just accepted the fact that books use them as a good marketing tool. For anyone who cares, I have maintaned an account with Tradewinds off and on during this time, and for what it is worth, they have always paid and have longetvity in thier favor. I also remember they used to be one of the first books that used to advertise here in the Bettorsworld Tower. To be honest, I hate that Gary Austin and Jim Feist is affliated in any way with this book, but I still use them as a secondary out. I would be interested to hear Jeff's opinion about them as well.

Rawhide, I think I can say on the behalf of most of the posters here that your first-hand experience and opinion is really appreciated.

But for me personally, there's just something about a bookmaker that might have stiffed someone, somewhere, sometime. I'm afraid it might happend again, and this time to me. Similar story with NASA Int'l.

Although I can't stand Gary Austin, I was told that there is big, solid money behind Tradewinds.

I notice that Tradewinds is not on "The List". That is probably all that Jeff needs to say.

The Tradewinds that was on bworld a few years back, was the online version, not the phone book.

The online version was run by a couple of guys with ties to Austin and company, but we were led to believe it was a totally separate venture.

As for Gary Austin, I hear he's a super nice guy and what not, but the question remains......

With the profitability of some offshore books, particularly Tradewinds,(one would assume) why are there people in Vegas still owed??

I would venture to guess anyone with an account at Tradewinds is safe. But the entire history doesn't sit right with me.

By the way, for those of you too young to remember (or too old to remember...reno) Gary Austin was once a super tout like his good buddy Jim Feist. After winning the castaways handicapping contest, he went on to start the Austin Edge. TV shows, the whole nine yards..........

Jeff, I remember the Castaways contest like it was yesterday. They always posted the weekly results right near the door where you walked into the joint. It was the most prestigious NFL handicapping contest in Vegas in the '80s.

Austin a nice guy? Are you being facetious? He's a Hall of Fame Stiff Artist. If it were up to me, I'd let him rot in a jail cell along with Art Schlichter

I agree with both Jeff and Sportshobby. Something about Gary Austin having a tie to Tradewinds and his past doesn't sit entirely well with me either. Same with NASA, that is why I will never play there. Although now a days I keep a small account with Tradewinds, perhaps I will consier closing my account with them permanently and keeping accounts with only the truly "honorable" books.

Tradewinds stiffed somebody I know but it concerned the casino and not the sportsbook. It may even be in the archives here. I can't get into the details of the situation. "Tradesecrets" shall say.

However as far as the sportsbook goes if Gary Austin is associated with it need anybody say more? Sure when things are going well he pays but when the **** hits the fan what will he do. If history repeats itself he'll disappear again.

                    Guys, Guys, Guys

Gary Austin does not own Tradewinds, neither does Jim Fiest. They both put players in there and have been very successful doing so. I know the owner personally and he is a stand up guy. Hell, I wouldn't care who or what they were if they put post-up players in my book. So calm down, what you have here is two big so-called agents who park their players with this book. This book will always pay and always has

                      GUYS, GUYS, GUYS

Gary Austin does own Tradewinds, and so does Jim Fiest. They have many players in their and have been very successful in keeping this a secret. The fake owners are some poor Costa Ricans that want everybody to believe they own this book. So calm down. They (Gary and Jim) wouldn't want anyone to think they are involved in the booking business. AND FOR GOOD REASON!

Think about that... Gary Austin would NEVER want anyone to think he has anything to do with BOOKING!

He stiffed tons of players and will NEVER be involved in any book what so-ever. Give
                      me a break!

In the Know... What book is he involved in then?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                      You seem to Know EVERYTHING.

And if what you say is true.

This book has no honor. Why would they HELP GARY AUSTIN make money in this industry! WHY?

And why hasn't GARY AUSTIN PAID BACK THE PLAYERS HE STIFFED? If he has put players in this office he must be making money. Right?

If this book had any balls they would make him take part of his earnings and START REPAYING his DEPTS!

                        Yes or NO?

You know the owners..... What's up with that?

                            REALLY!

It's comments like these that make me wonder why anyone would trust the off-shore industry.

                            That's wild.

Everybody can believe either me or Doggie style. I don't really care. Your a big mouth without a clue, that's probably why your unemployed. You are wrong, and you probably know it, so that makes you a lair too.
If you have players who post-up, then why would you care who sent them to you? Just the question you pose shows you don't know enough about this business to hold a job.

You can probably move numbers and run the ticket writers, but there is a lot more to running a business.
Why do you constantly want to spout sh*t at everyone? I won't respond again to this thread. Tradewinds is a good book and a good friend.
                              Do you have any?
