Tony Banks ain't going on my onside kick team. The free kick rules for the NFL are entertaining though.

      eagle96_99,

      I stand corrected.

Point well taken. Now that you mention it, I vaguely recall that game...

        eagle96/99,

Yes Neb could have covered. 13pts is the max a tm could win by in OT. Second TD(defensive) PAT is not kicked. Yeah you're right, 2 years ago ASU beat Usc by 13 in OT. Officials didnt even know the rules. After the game, they said they were going to whistle the play dead during the fumble return.

NCAA rules have changed this year, with respect to overtime periods.

If there is still a tie after TWO overtime periods, then starting with the third OT period, any team which scores a touchdown MUST attempt a two-point conversion.

This obviously makes it more difficult and will curtail extra OT periods.

Also, there was a game two years ago in the PAC-10 where Arizona St. beat the opponent (I forgot exactly who) by two touchdowns.

Arizona St. scored in the OT session and then intercepted a pass on defense and returned it for another touchdown.

I remember having a large wager on the game and I had absolutely no shot of winning, esp. after the game went into OT. I was laying more than a touchdown (I think -8.5) and they covered. Talk about good Karma...

hucinted is correct. The teams must go for 2 points after touchdowns if they are still tied after the first 2 O.T. sessions.

I remember the Arizona St. game also. I had a small bet on A.Z.St. and got lucky when they scored a defensive touchdown in one of the overtime sessions.

Also that Eagle game that ended in a tie back in 98 or 97 also was a huge middle. The game was pick'em and both sides were favorites during the week. And of all the games to end in a tie.....it was that one!

            Later..............
