Most of Saturday & Sunday's internet problems were caused by two American idiots who operate out of Iowa. These two clowns do this each and every year. They promise great phone service and great internet service to offshore bookies who know little or nothing about the communication business. The problems that happened Saturday & Sunday were not Sportsbook related for the most part. The only wrong doing by them was trusting these guys who do this every year. You cannot imagine how much money these two bozos charge for their service. January thru August they deliver pretty much as promised. When crunch time hits in September-they never deliver. Excuse after excuse-every year!

Even if what snoop is saying is true (and i happen to know that it is) the honus is still on the offshores BECAUSE THEY SELECTED THE TWO BOZOS.
Bottom line, these offshore books will never be able to keep up with demand because they are 10-15 years behind technologically. Its a joke, all the books divide their bandwidth up between phone and internet, and it will never be enough to meet the demand.
Especially when you take into account the stats outlining how many new users hit the net each day, But even if Costa Rica gets to a level where they are able to provide enough bandwidth for these books, the problem won't go away BECAUSE (AND MOST IMPORTANTLY)...
These books are using JUNK in terms of software, i mean how many books do you know that all use the same junky software:
Millenium, Dunes, SBG Global, Diamond, all use the same software, and let me tell you its 5 years behind the rest of the internet. Even the lauded Olympic software that is now being pimped out to Grand Central and others isn't anything to jump up and down about.
Here is a thought, take 1/10th what you spend on these useless banner ads at Xdimes a month (or if your NASA take the 500K you stiffed BW out of) and invest in some REAL software that you yourself outsourced to a REAL software company... Take that software and run it on a real server platform and then you will be for real.
Then and only then will anyone take the offshore betting industry seriously I've said it before and I'll say it again, my nephew has a Pamela Anderson shrine up on the net, and i'll lay any amount of money that the technology he is using is lightyears ahead of 3/4's of the sportsbooks out there.

Offshore Snoop Doggy Dog,
You are my hero. I thought I was the only one who hated those Iowa boys. I hope you do expose them. They screwed some of my advertisers real bad the last couple of years. I ran hundreds of thousand of dollars of ads everywhere and nobody could get through-phone or internet. What a waste! If you need any help with these guys e-mail me at JohnnyDeMarco@msn.com thanks....

Phaedrus,
Pimped out? What does that suppose to mean and why the unwarranted attack? We did not purchase our software from Olympic, Olympic's technical team simply advised the programmer that developed the software.
Its amazing to me how everyone has the answers to the industry's technical problems but doesn't offer any solutions. There is no ATT, Sprint, MCI etc. in the middle of the Caribbean. If there were other providers of telecommunication equipment we and others would use them. However our choices are very limited. We are at the mercy of the telecommunications providers and software providers that are currently available.
Sounds like a good buisness to jump into if you have the capital and knowledge. I am sure clients will beat your door down if you can deliver a better product.

OffshoreSnoop - don't worry about U.S. exposure. It had already been exposed for a long time. About the changes, it sounded that there will be no changes made since it is hard to do especially in third world. So that means we are just have to live with it.
I don't want to drop names here but what about Dunes. I had a problem with them when they first started but they tried their best to stick with the problem and solved it. I would consider them as one or not the "most improved" shops. Now, don't tell me C. Rica is not a thirld world.

Underdog,
The Dunes software/bandwith should be good seeing that they have no taffic(few players). I heard that they got their brains beat in recently and lost big 9 out of 10 days. These guys from Iowa are complete ***s. They are hurting innocent players and operators. Last year I tried to get a hold of the them during a busy Saturday when nobody could get through. This clown was on his cell phone playing golf and he says "I'll take care of it Monday." I think a lot of posters here think that internet bandwith is like having an AOL accoount or something similar. It cost a big store at least ten-15 grand a month for bandwith.

Hi everyone,
I thought I would make a biased but true statement here in support of my friends at WSEX.
Their software to this day is still the best in the industry. It's fast, easy to use, and you don't need a password to check the lines.
The hardware they use is far superior to anything else out there. The servers they throw out could easily run the internet business of 90% of the shops out there.
At 12:53 yesterday, it was still possible to get down in less than 10 seconds.
I personally think the "turn key" sports book packages are not good for the industry. They make it possible for too many people who have no idea what they are doing to get into the business. And even the ones that buy the software and do know what they are doing business wise have no control over the software.
As far as these guys in Iowa, I never heard of them. I don't know why anyone down there would be dealing with a US ISP.

Offshore Snoop,
I just went to one of the two sites you just mentioned to try and see what you are talking about. First it required me to turn on my "cookies," something I don't like having to do. Then when i went to view the lines I got this message:
Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a138f'
'mixedCustomerID' is not an object
/LoginVerify.asp, line 40
So assuming that what I just encountered was an isolated incident, can you tell me what is better about the software you just mentioned? I'm not looking to argue with you, I'm just trying to see what the product I invented nearly four years ago is lacking. Constructive criticism is welcome with me.
I also don't think that any other book runs anywhere near the volume through their online system on the weekends that WSEX does. I think most of these places have less than 1,000 people playing online.

Grand Central, it wasn't an insult, you guys picked the best of the packaged software. It was however "pimped out to you" forgive the vernacular but its part of my everyday gambling vocabulary.
You guys did buy/rent your software from the same guys who developed Olympic correct? I was simply stating that the fellow who developed Olympics software is now "selling" his software to others, nothing more nothing less.
The only reason i mentioned GC was b/c when it came time to remember the books now using this software, the ony i could remember was GC(you can thank your marketing dept for that since it would seem that your ads are plastered everywhere.
My point still stands though, if one is going to start up an offshore sportsbook, They should either take a serious look at developing their own software (just like WSEX did), or outsource it from someone who can build it to spec.
The alternative is to earmark a a ton of cash for advertising, in the hope that users find your site before they find others using the same sofware. Think about it, WSEX's software is a major selling point of the sportsbook, in fact it practically sells itself b/c it is so beautiful in its simplicity.
I would have no problem telling a friend of mine about WSEX, i would however have trouble "selling" him/her on some other sportsbook ESPECIALLY since i will be hard pressed to remember which of the 20 books using the same software it was i wanted to tell them about....
A book that decides to "Buy" its software from a provider, must realize that in order to diferentiate themselves from his "neighbour" (who happens to have the EXACT same software/site as him) is to OUTSPEND, spend some more/and or give away the house in bonuses.
If not for advertising/marketing why would i open an account with book X (i won't name names so as to not offend) rather than book Y, when they are:
-Both using the EXACT same software,
-And (and now it would seem probably have the same lines)
-Heck they are probably even located in the same district of Costa Rica?
The answer is that b/c they either offer a better bonus, and /or/ i heard about them before i heard about their neighbour.
That my friends is the reality of todays offshore business, and that is why books are giving away the House in bonuses and gimmicks.
Because without the bonuses, their is no real tangible difference between Book X and Book Y...
To Jay, i commend you and your partners for realizing from jumpstreet the proper way of doing things.
Heck (i dunno) when you guys started out, you probably didn't even have a choice since their weren't many "boxed" solutions in existence at that time WSEX opened. The little do i know about you and your company, however i doubt you would have taken the easy way out...
take care and best of luck to all.
