  • Olympic Rave!

I played a bunch of tennis today at Olympic and late in the day I was checking on how the matches turned out and was horrified to see I had lost twice on Chela.

I didn't remember wagering twice on that bum and emailed Olympic to ask if there had been a mistake. Apparently, I had double clicked on the confirmation button when submitting the wager and sent it in twice...since Olympic showed the wagers arriving 1 second apart.

Olympic emailed me that they were cancelling the second wager even though the match was over and Chela had already lost, and even though the whole mess was my fault and I hadn't even asked for a refund.

    Pretty impressive.

This post is a mixed blessing for us: thanks very much for the kind words, but now that the details of this mishap are out we have to make the following clear:

ONCE AN EVENT BEGINS ALL BETS ENTERED ON THE INTERNET ARE FINAL. ANY REQUESTS TO REVIEW SUCH BETS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK "REVIEW WAGERS" BEFORE YOU LOG OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT TO ENSURE YOUR BETS ARE ENTERED PROPERLY.

Sorry to be so authoritative on this one but the reality is that there are a few rotten apples out there that spoil the party for the rest ... if we made a policy of reversing all of these we would get lots of requests to reverse duplicate losing bets and never hear from the winners.

It's good to hear that this one turned out positive, and I can understand PC's concern and stance.

Since this software was designed in-house, it should be a problem that can be corrected. In fact, I'm surprised something hasn't already been done.

Some systems won't allow an identical bet to be placed within a few minutes, to avoid the problem. I don't favor this option, though. My preference is the way it is treated at Carib. There the player is given a bold, red message stating that there is already action on an identical wager. From here, the player still has the option of placing another one and confirming.
