  • Olympic - new heavy juice policy?

I know Olympic has a new odds guy from Europe. It appears he brought the European high juice practices with him.

Tennis juice lately has been outrageous. For example today:

    Vicente +250
    Enqvist -400

    Santoro +200
    Henman -300

I have checked numerous outs and NO ONE has so much tennis juice - feel free to correct me if anyone can find worse odds than these ...

mls, The high juice is standard for tennis. Except for the semis and finals of major tournaments you're not going to find that much better odds. Olympic has more tennis than any other Carribean book...and they take a hit.

Shifty: I have been betting tennis for years and I have NEVER seen so much juice outside the European books. Are you really serious?!?

It is only 9:30 am and most books have not posted tennis yet but compare:

      WSEX Henman: -200
      Santoro: +160

      Enqvist: -260
      Vicente: +200

      Carib: Henman: -240
      Santoro: +190

      Enqvist: -275
      Vicente: +215

Perhaps you are new to offshore betting and Olympic is your only out ... do you really play into Olympic's lines for "large hits"???

At least a dozen books will post tennis odds today. I will be waiting for any other book with tennis odds as juiced up as Olympic's ...

If you like Vicente or Santoro today, Olympic has the best line...and thier limits are much higher than WSEX or Carib. I happen to like their tennis lines. The high vig isn't bad when they put up different numbers like they did today.

Two weeks ago Olympic would have had no worse than +240/-300 and +300/-400 on these matchups, and maybe even a shade better.

BTW, Olympic is a terrific book - my orignal question was whether the drastically increased juice is permanent and a consequence of getting a BM from Europe ...

Olympic has every right to post any line they want ...

Of course, a favorite player would probably be wasting their time even checking Olympic's tennis lines in the future ...

              I stand corrected.

This is not a matter of increasing juice.

It is a matter of Olympic deciding to bet on one side of a tennis match and not the other.

But when they do take an opinion they usually are right at least often enough for them anyways...

Just to make things more clear, our %age hold on those 2 matches were 8.3% and 8.6% respectively. The others mls quoted from other books were all between 5.1% and 5.5%.

So yes we are higher than others on these. Spiro is still doing them, not me, and he hasn't changed his hold all year, so there's no "imported European" influence at work here. I'm not sure I would call these "outrageous" ... the hold is still less than 3-way soccer betting and in a sport where information is so sensitive to the line (an gimpy ankle to a tennis player has a much greater affect on the outcome of a match than a similar injury to a middle linemaker does to an NFL game)

Also, as ShiftySheik pointed out, we are taking an opinion on these games. The other 2 matches we had posted had 5.9% and 6.7% holds on them. And don't forget, we are taking 2000 USD limits on these games over the internet and up to 5000 USD on the phone (at our discretion).

For a book that's just starting to focus on sports outside of the standard North American fare, I think we're doing alright so far.

As mls knows, a lot of places offer a lot worse than that on tennis, so, not too horrible

Centrebet, who do more than most, would be 108, would think Stan James etc. would be too

Actually, AV2, this outpost of the Dark Side where I am stationed still has lines up from this morning that aree 20c on the Squillari match(+140/-160), 60c on the Enqvist match(-280/+220), and the lines are good for a twenty dime play.

                        *insert heavy breath noise here*

I'll have to check with our tennis guys but certainly grand slams, super-9s from third round or quarters on. Allow me to inquire.
