I will send money to anyone offering action points for football...
MaynardG.Krebs: When you bet "action points," it matters not only that your pick wins or loses to the spread, but by how much.
Example: Instead of making a conventional bet of $110 to win $100 on the Vikings -7, let's say you bet it as action points. You might wager, say, $11 to win $10 per point, up to a maximum of 30 points. (This is just an example; you could wager a different dollar amount and/or set a different cap on the number of points.)
If the Vikings win 37-28, thus beating the spread by 2 points, you'd win $20. If they lose 17-16, thus losing to the spread by 8 points, you'd lose $88. If they win 49-3, you'd win $300, because only the first 30 points from the spread would count, since you set that as your cap on the wager.
One drawback of action points is that it ties up a lot of your account in pending bets. You need to be able to cover your maximum possible loss, which in the above example would be $330 (as opposed to the $110 if you had bet it in the conventional way). This is fine for one or two bets at a time, but if you're trying to bet a whole slate of games as action points, it really adds up, and you have to maintain a much higher balance in your account.
For the NFL, I believe the average differential between the spread and the actual outcome of the game is about 10 or 11 points. So I figure about 10% per point is a good simple rule for translating a wager to its equivalent in action points. Thus, if you would bet $500 on a conventional bet per game, then bet $50 per point as action points, and you'll still, on average, win or lose about the same amount per play.
Trujillo, sorry for being late but you can add Top of the World Sports to your list, we will offer action points on sides and totals.
Looking forward to your action. Give us a call at 1800-285-5441.
warawara, great, but I just looked at your bank wire info and your bank is First Union National Bank of Miami, this worries me because of what is going on with seizures in this country. I would feel safer with my money in a foreign bank where it would be harder for the Justice Dept to get their hands on it. Are my worries unfounded?
I can understand where you are coming from.
We deal with an offshore bank in Curacao, the money is physically transferred here into our account. When we send you a check or bank wire back, it is also physically transferred out of our account here in Curacao (offshore), straight to you and or your bank account, wherever it may be.
The money never stays in the bank you mentioned above.
Hope you understood, if you have more questions, please give us a call and ask for the accounting department, who will be obliged to answer your questions.
