  • Props to Olympic

Olympic deserves credit(and the cash). Spiro comes up with bet offers that no one else will touch. In the middle of the WNBA season he started posting totals. He WAS THE ONLY ONE! Sometimes the numbers would motor, One game I remember the game opening in the 140's and closing in the 160's. Then SBG hopped on the bandwagon a few weeks after Spiro did, then Belize jumped on. Now I have 3 non-screen outs that are posting(I mean cloning) the WNBA totals. What a joke! Just like Doggiestyle said in the 5 page scalping post. The Real BM is taking all the heat, all the risk. Then clone joints jump on his coattails. They are now making money off his numbers while never having to take action on the games that would move 10, 15 , 20 pts.
Then he started posting individual props on 2-5 baseball games a day. For the starting pitchers innings pitched, Hits allowed, HRs given up etc.. Now I see a couple joints posting(I mean cloning) the same stuff.
Spiro's a real BM,and deserves better than having the clone joints ride his coattails.

I love Olympic except for one thing....... I cannot win there! Otherwise, Sprio is without a doubt the best.

I've criticized Olympic in the past, but bbuster you are absolutely right: Any book that does what Olympic is doing deserves big-time credit. Olympic is establishing itself
as an industry leader and deserves kudos.

bbuster, I agree with most of your post but having NEVER watched an WNBA game in my life, where are we going to get the totals from? I have no problem "cloning" The Greek's lines and have been putting his numbers up since he started.

I am really confused by this term "cloning".
If I have customers that want to bet WNBA totals what do you want me to do, tell him no we don't offer those but Olympic does?

Sports betting IMO is very similar to the Stock Market. There are Bid and Ask prices and if you put an order in for less than the going price your order may or not be filled. All the brokers have the same prices.

I know that when most of the books have the same numbers it doesn't create many scalping opportunities but as long as we are writing business with the numbers we have, we are content.

I would also like to add that we don't move on air unless we see a major move. I know you must write tickets to make money but I shouldn't have to be on the wrong side every time because the sharps bet elsewhere first.

Spiro is awesome!!! I remember during the NBA playoffs he would have a halftime line up before the players got off the court to go to the locker room. He is so quick that one time I called and he answered the phone before it rang!!!

Thought you all may want to know someone from Olympic's opinion on all this. I for one have no problem other books "cloning" our lines and I agree with Grand Central Sports that this is a poor term for this. If this is what you would like to term this practice then I believe that practically all lines that are posted at any offshore book are just "clones" of Roxy's original number (maybe not exactly the same, but certainly using it as a very strong guideline)

I also think the Stock Market analogy is a good one.

GCS, Peter- You are absolutely right. If I was in your shoes I would be doing the same thing. However I dont think it is right, or fair to Olympic. The originator of the totals. As he was taking action as the lines were popping all over the place and now that they have become more solid others jump in.
I realize life is not fair and this business is very competitive, however I also know nothing will change. I was just throwing out something for people to think about.

PS. I think GCS is a great shop, Powers set me up and he was very helpful and I think you guys are rising towards the top in a very competitive and everchanging business.
