  • What if

What if a team bats around in the first inning and puts up 6 runs. Its an NL game and the pitcher batted. For whatever reason he doesnt take the mound in the first. Of course he will have played but what about the betting situation?

    Scotty,

Is this a quiz to stir up the board now that Action Reality is gone?

He's gotta throw one pitch. That's what BTO tells me anyway

Ronbets...Ive got some great BTO stories. I must have saved him 100K just by giving back
to him the BRs, chips too, he's left at windows around town. I dont know who gave him his teeth back he left on the phones though...Scotty

I'm still laughing MAO. How about the old Mexican guy that found his eye glasses in C.P. Put them on and walked away with them. Save these classics for another time.--Ron

For you guys wondering, we are talking about a longtime Vegas local.

Ronbets...Thats the 2nd time he lost his glasses then. He was writing tickets at the Silverbird and wrote a $22,000 ticket for a guy on Alabama. When the "winner" went to cash it the cashier told him it was a loser. BTO gave him the wrong team. (He probably liked the other side). The poor guy punched BTO threw the window of his car. He has been known to tell a player "that team cant win their a high school team". You can imagine how that goes over! Another time he was working for me in Reno. At halftime of the MNF game we would give a hotdog & beer to any one whose team had the lead at halftime. That was his job and he hated it. One of our nicest, squarest customers came to get his ticket for his hotdog & beer and BTO was sitting there with a sad look and asked the poor guy "where are you going to eat the rest of the week"? Guess who it turned out to be ? Just the Govenors brother in law. The Gov and the casino owner were very good friends. I got him out of that jackpot but the next one I couldnt help him. Thats for later...Scotty

That's a good one Scotty. I would also say the Pitcher has to through 1 pitch to have action. I'm 99.9% per cent sure.

That brings up an intersting point. If the Pitcher comes to bat in the first inning doesn't he officially become the Starting Pitcher? He has to go into the Stats as the First Pitcher to see Action if he bats. He didn't come to bat as a Catcher or Pitch hitter.

What if the pitcher happens to hit a home run? He hurts himself running around the bases and can't Pitch. Seem really unfair to say he didn't start the game.

It probably has happened, but all the Pitchers were able to throw 1 pitch. If the rule doesn't include the Pitcher batting first.......... I think it should.

I don't ever recall this happening. The Pitcher batting and not throwing 1 pitch.
