  • Please tell me why ??? opinions ?

    Why is there so much chaos and confusion when you need something done at your offshore book ? Today's example I called to speak to a sportsbook manager because I am transferring to another sportsbook and we spoke for 10 miutes and I had to get some more info for him so he asked me to call him back which I did in less then 30 minutes. The operators/clerks were clueless one said they did not know who he was the next said he is off today it just went on and on finally I spoke with him and he was livid that I was told these things.

    Stuff like this happens all the time I post up with a book and go to check my balance and the 10% was not added in I have to call back and ask them to put the 10% in. I am sure you guys all have your own stories so you know what I mean but I just wondered why this happens offshore so much ? Is it this is a fairly new industry and the help is not being properly trained ? Is it they don't care ? I am not singling anyone out because I think this is an across the board problem. But I guess just a little annoying one so maybe I should not be ranting. (-;

    I definitely agree. Well over half the sportsbooks I've dealt with operate this way. Long phone calls with clerks trying to figure out what should be routine transactions. . . Multiple calls and being transferred around to multiple people to accomplish a simple transaction. . .

    It must be the newness of the industry.

    But there are some exceptions, and I suppose the best thing we can do is applaud them to urge the others to catch up.

        In the past week I have had the wrong person's payout check sent to me and not one but two clerks give me a run line as a money line. In the latter case the game was already off before I could get a manager on the line that knew what I was asking. The first was clearly an honest mistake that caused me much shuffling of funds and the second was clearly a training issue as the manager apologized to me. He offered to let me play the game after it was off but I declined, the only reason I pursued it so far was They acted like I didn't know what I was doing. In the first case I FedXed the wrong check back to them. It is easy for us seasoned vets to get mad at the books, but both of these books read this forum and know I wish them well. To those of us that do this everyday, we know the routine better than they do. If you are a long term winner, as I believe most of this forum is, we need to be a little forgiving of small mistakes. And by the way, the book with the best cust serv I have ever had, had to reminded of the football reup bonus they promised me in the mail. Not trying to say they can't get better just saying thanks for the service they provide me.

          In most cases the offshores answer to no one. In most cases we dont know the owner or who or where to look if we need to. Vegas books and those in the UK, Austrailia and even your local guy have an identity and are accountable because of it. They cant hide...Scotty

            the owners of these sportsbooks need to put their foot down. the problem is the island mentality of most of these people. the clerks and customer service people just lali gag. they feel no pressure, someone needs to put pressure on these people, someone who excells at disciplining. GET THE JOB DONE OR GET THE **** OUT!!

              Until relatively recently, I was very happy with most phone clerks. However, sportsbooks, in preparation for football, are hiring lots of new clerks, and I'm now getting stuck with plenty who are incompetent newcomers just getting their feet wet. Not the end of the world, just a minor, temporary inconvenience.
