  • Execution carried out - 8pm est

The poster known as Reality was put to rest at 8pm est. The switch was reluctantly pulled.

His last words were: VIVA LA BETTORSWORLD!

  • #2
Charles du Galle said something similar at a speech in Quebec in the 1970s (Viva le Quebec Libre) and ever since Quebec has been trying to leave Canada. Hopefully the consequences won't be as severe here .

BTW, Jeff check your e-mail. There is a question I was hoping you could answer.

R.I.P. Reality. A memorial service will
be held at Billy Hongs in NYC in his
memory. Instead of flowers, we ask that
      you purchase a lobster roll

I've wanted to say this for a long time, as I've watched the battle unfold between REALITY and his detractors regarding how a book should be run. As in the topic of religion, isn't it possible that neither side is wrong here? I believe a player has the right to want a book to deal one set of lines, and to take on all comers. I also believe the book has the right to operate it's business in any fashion they choose, if they believe it will maximize profits, provided they pay in a timely manner. Whether they're 'real' bookies or not is a matter of opinion. No one is wrong here. Think about it. But REALITY, whether redundant by force or by nature, always made interesting reading. I feel he is someone I can trust, and I will miss him! Best Wishes in all your future endeavors, REALITY!

Although I believe that Reality came into Bettorsworld with an agenda to "get reno," and that he definitely suffers from many of the traits he projected on me, I still maintain that he is an honorable and big-hearted guy who would do just about
anything for his friends. He is clearly a man with redeeming virtues and a BM I would completely trust with my money.

For some reason, Bettorsworld brought out the darker side of the guy. Apparently, his buttons are easily pushed, and he then lashes out, theatrically displaying his negative qualities.

Because I was the unfortunate and, in my opinion, undeserved recipient of his "dark- side lashes," I am not, at this time, in the mood for reconciliation. In other words, I forgive but I don't forget.

I wish Reality well and hope that he is able to continue his success as a BM without having to kick out players. And if he does come back to Bettorsworld, I would hope that he learns from this experience and makes a concerted effort to improve his posting etiquette.

Hey reno, you are right about that undeserved attack on your self by reality. I thought that I was the second guy to mention Artie's name, only after the first person posted, of whom I forget now. Oh well, at least we got to see what this guy was all about. So many people's names get mentioned on here everyday that you would figure at least a warning or polite retraction would have been requested.

                    Jeff,

Just a note to say I think you did the right thing here. If Reality wants to reincarnate himself fine, I hope he does, but just because he generated posts didn't give him the right to run amuck. I know there are a lot of posters who want anybody to be free to say anything as long as they want to say it, so I wanted to register my vote for your effort to promote civil tones.

Also, Reno, I wanted to say to you from what I read of the exchange you handled yourself with admirable restraint. Even though I think you're position that scalpers only make money from other players is absolutist and a little self-interested (thus bringing out REALITY's dark side), your posts keep this place going as good as it does and you deserve the opposite of being shat upon.

                      REALITY,

I though this an appropriate quote.

"You gotta know when to hold 'em. Know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away. Know when to run..."

My friend, you have made these boards interesting, informative, and entertaining. If everyone knew you the way some of us do, you would have held your hand and stayed. Unfortunately, too many people thought you had an agenda and questioned your integrity. So, being the bigger man, you chose to fold and walk away. I respect you for that. It must have been hard for you to walk, knowing there would be more said about you after your departure. You are a class act and I look forward to your return to CR. See you soon.

                      Jake

Irish, I can assure you that REALITY is NOT Art from Skybook. I know Art, a co-owner of Skybook, and he would never even think of posting a la Reality.
